The Ninja (Japanese: Sinobi) is a base infantry class debuting in Fire Emblem Fates. Similar to Thieves from earlier games, Ninja are weak in direct combat, but they possess the unique ability to pick open locks and chests. If challenged, they use shuriken to defend themselves, but are generally best served avoiding combat, owing to their low strength and defense. As their main weapons are shuriken, weapons that decrease enemies' stats, Ninja also serve well as support units to weaken opposing units to allow their allies to deal easier blows or decrease the damage they take.

Ninja may promote to either Mechanists or Master Ninja.

Ninja

A ninja (Japanese: 忍者; literally, "concealed one") is a type of covert mercenary which originated in 15th-century feudal Japan. They were often tasked with infiltration, sabotage, and assassination, and are historically known to have relied on disguise and misdirection techniques to achieve their missions. Ninja became prominent figures in Japanese folklore, where they are often depicted in an exaggerated manner as almost supernaturally agile, stealthy, and lethal. This conception of ninja in turn passed into popular culture in both Japan and the rest of the world, and their Fire Emblem depiction is very much in this spirit.
