If trained, Neimi will almost always be the standout candidate for [[Nidhogg]], overshining Innes in most attributes, especially if she is a Ranger and not a Sniper. However, she heavily relies on Colm to do well, and without him she is nothing special, as the gap eventually opens very far wide and her weaker performance becomes noticeable.

Appearance(s)

Neimi (Japanese: ネイミー Neimi) is a character of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. She is the childhood friend of Colm and hails from the village of Lark, which was destroyed at a time close to the start of Chapter 3. She starts as an Archer and can promote to either the Ranger class or the Sniper class.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Role

In the beginning of Chapter 3, Neimi approaches Eirika and Seth as the two discuss the state of Renais. She mistakes their army for a band of mercenaries, and tearfully requests help. She explains that she was from a village called Lark, which was burned down by Bazba's Bandits. The citizens were all killed except for her and Colm, who escaped just in time. Colm went to steal back something the bandits had stolen from Neimi, and she asks Eirika to help him, as she believes it is too dangerous.

Neimi then joins the army as an archer and stays for the rest of the game.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Neimi, at first, is just the standard GBA-era Archer, which means she overall performs in a mediocre fashion. Her offensive growths are fantastic, but her starting stats leave a lot to be desired, and she cannot counter at close range, which are most enemies. She is the only bow user for the entire early game and all of Ephraim's route (assuming Garcia (The Sacred Stones), Ross, and Gerik do not promote into their bow-wielding classes, Warrior and Ranger), as well as the only user of the Orion's Bolt. While it does sell for a hefty price, Neimi is still the only unit who needs it, thus meaning she has no competition for it. She can use ballistae, but this is only available in a few chapters, so it doesn't help her much. She can only use D Bows at base, but considering the Steel Bow's rarity and weight early on, she is effectively locked to Iron Bows for quite a while. In Eirika's route, Innes comes earlier and, unless Neimi has been trained diligently or has gotten extremely lucky, will have comparable or even superior statistics. Doubling enemies is a bit of a hurdle early on, but she quickly grows out of it. Her defenses are very bad, and when put in conjunction with how she cannot counter, this gives her a horrible early enemy phase performance.

With Colm, however, Neimi can truly shine. Their supports boost each other's offences in a significant way, and grow quickly: thus, with Colm around, Neimi's initially mediocre early performance becomes good, and even great, much sooner. This is what sets her apart from the other Game Boy Advance-era Archers. She has other support partners, but none of them grow as quickly. Amelia probably has the best one as it comes the "quickest" of them all while also making her sturdier and giving her even better critical, while Garcia, Artur and Gilliam boost her power and durability as well. Neimi can instantly get a C Support with Colm after recruitment, which is not much, but does make quite the difference in how she performs. She also can deal with flying enemies easily, as The Sacred Stones restores the bonus damage coefficient to x3 might, making her pivotal against Wyvern Riders, Pegasus Knights, and Gargoyles.

As with all unpromoted units that are not the Lords, Neimi has two promotion options, but for her there is not really much of a choice. Her skill is high enough that Sure Strike rarely, if ever, makes a difference, and when paired with the lack of a critical hit bonus and the situational status of ballistae, there is no real decision to make. Sniper is just about totally inferior to Ranger, which gives her more movement, Canto, and access to Swords. The only significant advantage Sniper has over Ranger is that 1 extra point of Strength, and arguably tying Neimi and Colm's movement (though the Swiftsoles can do that for Colm already). The extra constitution makes it harder for her to be rescued or rescue due to her newfound horse, and gives her a weakness to horse slaying weapons, but she will almost never have to fight those and it gives her more to work with when it comes to Swords, only losing a little bit of speed from even some of the heavier ones and making her faster with Bows, too.

If trained, Neimi will almost always be the standout candidate for Nidhogg, overshining Innes in most attributes, especially if she is a Ranger and not a Sniper. However, she heavily relies on Colm to do well, and without him she is nothing special, as the gap eventually opens very far wide and her weaker performance becomes noticeable.

Personality and character

Neimi is very sensitive and cries very often and very easily, especially when in just slight distress and when talking to Colm, who is quite harsh with her. She is originally from a village called Lark, which was burnt down by Bazba's Bandits, the citizens killed and their home destroyed. After the chapter ends, the two both join Eirika's army. Neimi is respectful to others, shown in her conversations.

Neimi seems to have romantic feelings for Colm, hinted at in support conversations. The two have known each other since childhood, and the two have an ending in which they are married and have two children. She carries around a mirror that was originally her mother's, shown in her support conversations with Artur.

Her late grandfather Zethla was a legendary archer, known as "Single-Shot Zethla". According to Garcia, he never joined Renais's army, but the two did meet once.

Endings

Neimi, the Tearful Archer
She returned to her village and passed her days in peace and quiet. Years later, she traveled to the capital of Renais as an archery instructor for their military. She never could resist a good cry.

Colm and Neimi
The childhood friends became lovers first, then husband and wife. Worried for Neimi's well-being, Colm gave up his adventurer's ways. Neimi passed on her grandfather's skill in archery to her own son and daughter.

Trivia

  • There is a typo in Neimi and Gilliam's A Support. Neimi talks about Cormag when instead she should be referring to Colm. This error was caused due to Cormag being written similar to "Coma", which is Colm's Japanese name.
