— Marcia to Ike in Chapter 3: Pirates Aground

Marcia (Japanese: マーシャ Marcia) is a pegasus knight from the theocracy of Begnion. She is found searching for her brother, Makalov. In Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, she is no longer one of the Begnion's Holy Guard, but a Crimean Royal Knight and friends with Elincia.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

Role

Marcia is the first Pegasus Knight that you see in the game. This also shows to newcomers that pegasi are one of the most agile and fast creatures in the Fire Emblem series.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Marcia is the first flier that joins the party. As a mounted flier, she has amazing mobility, rescue utility, canto, and 1-2 range weapons. She is the only flier on chapters 11 and the start of 12 before Jill, the other early flier, joins. Marcia joins somewhat underleveled with average strength and defense and decent speed, but she joins at a time where the player typically has plenty of BEXP and money for forges to compensate. It is recommended to give her some BEXP levels immediately as she has excellent long-term payoff and will make using her much easier.

Marcia has excellent skill and speed growths and enough strength growth to deal solid damage especially with forges through the majority of the game. On average, she will cap all three of these stats at level 20/20. However, her defense base and growths are mediocre, so she may often face some survival issues especially lategame. She gains swords on promotion, but she starts with E rank swords, so she is stuck with Slim and Iron Swords. Swords are primarily useful for 1-range axe users, but she is usually better off sticking to lances due to her better lance rank and 1-2 range. Her lower 23 strength cap is a little limiting near endgame but this can be compensated with forges.

Marcia has no base skills, but as a flier, she has the flexibility to make most skills work well on her. Adept and Guard have decent activation rates thanks to her good skill. Savior is an invaluable skill on her if she is to regularly face combat while ferrying units like Ike. It is not recommended to teach her Stun with an Occult as stunning enemy units is rarely useful.

Marcia has a fire affinity which boosts attack and accuracy, both very useful for her. Tanith is one of her best support partners due to being an earth affinity flier, giving both a significant avoid boost. Kieran is also another good partners due to similar mobility, and additional accuracy and avoid boosts, both useful for both units.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Marcia is a mounted flier that joins with Elincia in part 2, and is available for 3 of the 5 chapters of that part. She has respectable offensive base stats for early part 2, enough to double and deal useful damage to most units. Her base durability is mediocre so she cannot be exposed to too many enemy units. Marcia's speed and luck growths are high, ensuring she can double most units if invested. However, her strength and skill growth are mediocre. Without forges and massive investment, she will struggle to deal damage past part 2. Her defensive growths are also mediocre, so she cannot be exposed to enemy phase much. Although she can use swords, she lacks the rank to use niche sword weapons such as Wyrmslayer or Tempest Blade. Note that she greatly benefits from Path of Radiance transfers, which gives strength, skill, and speed on average; with this, she caps skill and speed more quickly before promotion, giving her more room to patch her weaker stats with BEXP.

Marcia is the only flier of chapter 2-3 and one of a handful in 2-E, two chapters where flight is valuable. She is extremely valuable in chapter 3-9 as the only flier of that chapter, though her offensive stats will lag behind that of Geoffrey, Kieran, and Danved. She joins Ike's group in chapters 3-11 and 3-E, chapters where flight is useful, but she will likely be massively underleveled and outclassed by Haar, Tanith, and Sigrun. As such, if one wants to use Marcia long-term, she needs significant investment through part 2 and on to keep up with Ike's group. She works well on any part 4 team, though her flight utility is somewhat wasted if put in Ike's group; it is recommended to have her join the other two groups to take advantage of flight in 4-3 (desert) or 4-5 (swamp).

Marcia starts with no skills. Chapter 3-9 has a buyable Adept scroll that complements her excellent speed and helps boost her mediocre offense. Chapter 3-9 also lets you remove Paragon from Geoffrey and Astrid, which helps Marcia keep up with Ike's group. Cancel and Vantage are two speed-based skills that help her durability, though getting either on her requires removing them from their respective characters (Leonardo, Haar, Mia, or Naesala) and can't be accessed for her until late part 3. In tier 3, she can be restricted by her lower 32 strength cap, and no axes, though this can be compensated with forges or using the Storm Sword or Tempest Blade. Nullify is extremely useful for Marcia because it negates her primary weakness of bows and wind magic, allowing her to be exposed to more enemy phases in rout chapters.

Marcia has a fire affinity which boosts attack and accuracy. As she struggles with strength, she wants partners that give her more. Danved has similar availability as her and the same fire affinity, but he does not have a mount. Geoffrey is a mount with a fire affinity, but after 3-9, he rejoins in 4-5 which is too large of a gap for Marcia to take good advantage of. Tanith and Sigrun can be good partners due to joining Ike's group at the same time as Marcia, being the same class, and having useful affinities (earth with avoid, and water with attack & defense, respectively). Note that Sigrun is forced onto Micaiah's part 4 team, so Marcia will want to follow her if they are supported.

Personality and character

This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.

Marcia usually has a cheerful personality, however, she is shown to quickly lose her temper towards her brother, Makalov, whenever he slacks off or has to pay another debt, and often insulting him with terms such as "clambake" and "sponge-brain". Despite this, she truly does care for her brother, often worrying for his safety.

Trivia

  • Uniquely among supports, Makalov's support with Astrid in Path of Radiance changes depending on Marcia's current status. In their C support, Makalov buys flowers for either her (if she is alive) or her grave (if she is dead); in their A support, Makalov is berated by her (if she is alive) or Ike (if she is dead).
