(Japanese: マリーシア Malliesia) is a cleric that first appears in Book 2 of Mystery of the Emblem and appears again in its DS remake. She is Lena's pupil, and thus is able to wield the Hammerne staff.[1]
Book 2
Role
Malliesia is found in a village during Marth's expedition in Grust. Her grandmother claimed she was only ten years old to protect her from being taken by Lang and his men, but she actually has come of age. After finding out Marth wasn't one of Lang's men, her grandmother offers her to Marth as his bride, but Malliesia says it's far too early and that she doesn't know what to do. Malliesia continued to accompany Marth throughout the War of Heroes. She trained under Lena as a cleric prior to the war.
After Medeus's defeat, she gets upset that Tiki is getting all of Marth's attention, and claims that Caeda won't forgive her if she shows even the slightest happiness, which Caeda writes off as nonsense.
Malliesia is the only character in the game capable of wielding the Thief staff, and effectively fills Lena's place as wielder of the Hammerne in Book 2.

- In Mystery of the Emblem, promotion gains for HP and weapon level consist of giving the character as many points as necessary—the "x" value shown in the table—to reach the promoted class's base value. If the character's value for one of those two stats is higher than their promoted class's base value, they will not receive any bonus in that stat.

Analysis
Malliesia will be the first staff user to join your army, besides Wrys in the prologue, and thus will be extremely useful in her joining chapter by providing support through healing. Malliesia joins with a immpressive C rank in staffs, allowing her to use staffs such as mend, rescue and ward at base, as well as likely being your first user of the anew and fortify staffs. This is without mentioning how she's the only user of the Hammerne staff, besides Lena who joins in the last chapter of the game, letting her repair useful weapons and staffs. Her bases are rather low in every area besides luck, but her growths are rather decent. She will not be able to fight enemies well, because of her low defense and HP meaning that she's best kept from the frontlines. She has a wide array of reclassing options, but Cleric is considered her best one.
Overall, Malliesia is the best staff user in the game, providing invalubale utility from the begining and right to the end. She does face some competition from Yumina who also joins with C staffs, but because of her better availability and higher magic growth she is consdiered the superior unit. Because of her many contributions Malliesia is often considered to be one of the best units in the game.
