(Japanese: マーニャ Mahnya) was the Flightleader of the Pegasus Knights of Silesse, loyal to Queen Rahna and Prince Lewyn, and the elder sister of fellow Silessean knight Ferry.

Biography

When Rahna received word of the charges of treason alleged against Sigurd of Chalphy, she dispatched Mahnya and the Silessean Pegasus Knights to Agustria to escort Sigurd and his army (including Lewyn and Ferry) into political asylum in Silesse.

During Sigurd's time in Silesse, Mahnya served as Rahna's bodyguard in light of signs of aggression from Duke Maios at Thove Castle, while Ferry remained with Sigurd at Sailane Castle. Following Maios's defeat by Sigurd in the Silessean civil war, Mahnya led her knight unit into battle to defend the capital from an attack by Duke Daccar of Zaxon, Maios's brother, and from another pegasus knight unit led by her former comrade Pamela. Upon the arrival of Andorey of Jungby and his Beige Ritter archer brigade, Mahnya and her unit were quickly overwhelmed by their crippling weakness to bows and were all killed.

Years after Mahnya's death, her niece Fee named her pegasus "Mahnya" in honor of her late aunt.[1] Fee's substitute character, Femina also named her pegasus "Mahnya" despite having no known relation to Mahnya.

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War

Role

Mahnya acts as a partner unit in Chapter 4, dispatched from Silesse Castle the turn after Thove Castle has been seized, leading a unit of eleven Pegasus Knights. She and her subordinates fight the Zaxon Castle army, but will always be defeated by Andorey and the Beige Ritter in both story and gameplay.

Personality and character

Mahnya's loyalty to Rahna was absolute, and she remarked that a life of service to Rahna is the only life she has ever known.[2] She was highly confident in her skills as a warrior and believed that the mark of a good Pegasus Knight is the ability to prepare to face any foe and win.[3]
