Lumel is a member of the Macedonian army who assisted general Lykke in his coup d'état of Macedon. Following Lykke's victory over Minerva in the coup, Lumel was tasked with defending a fortress at Macedon's borders in order to halt Prince Marth and the Altean army's advance towards the Macedonian castle, but he was ultimately killed after a fierce battle between the two forces.
Lumel is a very rare boss in the series who guards a seize point yet will move off the seize point to pursue the player's army. The only other boss of this type is Tashoria in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Gharnef when fought at the Dragon Altar. In Lumel's case, the seize point is relatively secure as he is a flying unit moving very far over terrain that is hazardous to infantry movement. Nevertheless it is possible to have Marth move past Lumel and end the chapter without killing him.
