“ | My family has served in the Altean knights for generations. In other words... I was forced to volunteer as my brother's substitute, to protect my family's honor. But you see... I'm me. I'm not my brother-- I'm not some stinking substitute! | ” | — Luke |

- In Mystery of the Emblem, promotion gains for HP and weapon level consist of giving the character as many points as necessary—the "x" value shown in the table—to reach the promoted class's base value. If the character's value for one of those two stats is higher than their promoted class's base value, they will not receive any bonus in that stat.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Luke is one of the three cavaliers acquired in the prologue (besides the avatar). Compared to Roderick and Cecil he has the best bases, being bulky enough to take a hit as well as having high strength and speed. His growths are well rounded being only low in magic and resistance making him often able to compete with even prepromoted units and function well in most classes. Due to experience being hard to come by in Lunatic and Lunatic reverse without using the Drill grounds, it's often recommended to choose on of the three starting characters to train up. Luke might have a hard time finding a spot in some prologue maps, due to units like Caeda, Ogma, Athena and Cain having better combat, but after the prologue he can find a deployment slot much easyer. Due to having the best bases of the starting cavs as well as a D rank in swords, particularly useful in the axe infested earlygame of New Mystery, Luke is often considered the best choice. Luke also benefits from reclassing, making a decent mercenary or myrmidon, and upon promotion a decent horseman. Sadly Luke cannot get the full benefit from the dracoknight class because of his comparatively lower lance rank and so paladin is his best option for a strong high movement class. Luke may have trouble keeping up with other units that join with higher bases and can easely drop off if he's unlucky with his level ups, however Luke will most often be a solid and reliable unit through the entire game.
