Fire Emblem Awakening

Leif's Blade (Japanese: リーフの宝剣 Leaf's Treasure Sword) is a unique sword from Fire Emblem Awakening. It is one of a number of weapons named for characters from earlier Fire Emblem series installments; it is named for Leif, the lead character of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. Reminiscent of the earlier Thief Sword, it grants the Despoil skill to its wielder, granting them a chance to "steal" gold from enemies after defeating them in the form of a Bullion.

Trivia

  • The battle model of Leif's Blade is an exact match for the Thracia 776 depiction of the Light Brand, which was Leif's personal weapon in that game and is the weapon he is depicted with in that game's promotional artwork.
  • This sword, in combination with how Leif is classed as a Thief/Trickster in his Awakening appearances, may be an allusion to the Capture mechanic of Thracia 776, where Leif and his army could steal items from captured enemies.
  • In the free demo releases of Awakening, Leif's Blade is responsible for a moderate glitch: if it is obtained in the course of the demo and activates Despoil, the game freezes. The most likely cause of this is that presumably the Bullion (S) item is not present in the demo's data, but when activated it attempts to give the player one nonetheless, crashing the game as a result.
