Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Joining at level 10 in Chapter 7, Lapis is able to promote instantly upon the chapter's end using a Master Seal. She can best be described as a one trick pony, pooling most of her advantages into one stat: her speed, which with a solid 14 base and personal 55% growth (75% in her Sword Fighter class), means that she will only keep getting faster, and hopefully be able to double enemies throughout the game. Alas, the price she pays for this is all of her other stats being relegated to mediocrity; her strength and magic are lackluster, her bulk is unimpressive, and, quite damningly, her build is utterly terrible, leaving her to get weighed down to high heaven by any remotely powerful weapon she picks up, cancelling out her one notable boon. Indeed, if one were to search "mediocre" in the dictionary, you would probably find an entire album's worth of pictures of Lapis surrounding it.

Still, even mediocre stats can be put to some amount of work in the long term, especially given her ability to instantly promote. Lapis's immediate promotion options are Swordmaster and Hero, and truthfully, these aren't particularly standout options. Swordmaster accentuates Lapis's already very high speed at the expense of most of her other stats, and also throws away any chance of her being able to fight at range outside of an Emblem weapon or the Levin Sword, the latter of which she lacks the requisite magic to use effectively (not to mention she loses a whopping 5 speed from just holding the thing). Hero, comparatively, helps round out her stats a bit better, giving her a bit more strength, bulk and an extra point of Build in exchange for 2 less speed. She also gets the option of C rank Lances or Axes, giving her ranged options in Javelins and Hand Axes as well as access to Killer weapons and effective weaponry of either type. Unfortunately, 7 Build is still ill-equipped to handle most of her new toys, but if one has downloaded the Heroes DLC, she has access to the Fensalir if she chooses Lances or the Nóatún for axes, both of which sport impressive power for their weight. The Fensalir is likely to be the better option among these, as at a +3 Refine, it has 6 weight, letting Lapis use it without getting slowed down at all, which she greatly appreciates. Hero also has one additional perk: access to Brave Assist at level 5, which can be weaponized alongside an inheritance of Dual Assist to let Lapis deal fairly reliable chip damage via chain attacks. Her stats do not matter at all when chain attacking, allowing her to contribute in some manner even when her combat performance is faltering.

Expending a Second Seal on Lapis can help her access classes that improve her combat over her initial choices. While her strength growth is unremarkable, Warrior Lapis boasts a very impressive 18 strength at base along with 8 build. Granted, most axes will still weigh her down, but 8 build is enough to comfortably use both the Steel Bow and Killer Bow without getting weighed down, and she can even use a +3 Nóatún with only a point of speed loss (or even none when engraved), giving her a very impressive 35 attack. Her speed isn't super strong at this point at only 13, but her high power with the Nóatún in tandem with her massive 70% speed growth in the class will allow her to hold her own in combat until she can proc enough Speed levels to get out of this rut. She can even pick up Merciless at level 5 to hit even harder against broken enemies. Wyvern Knight is another class that Lapis enjoys going into, having 15 base strength and speed as well as the value of flight, allowing her to cross over terrain and participate in Bonded Shield chains with other flying units with perfect reliability. Her Build is a paltry 6, but this is still enough to use the Folkvangr and +3 Fensalir with no speed loss, giving her strong generalist options for at least a good portion of the mid to lategame.

Lapis greatly appreciates an Emblem Ring that will fix her damage. Marth and Roy are typically the best earlygame options for that, both providing sizeable Strength boosts as well as useful skills to supplement her combat such as Divine Speed and Rise Above. If planning to use Lapis in a combat class that uses swords such as Wyvern or Hero, inheriting at least Sword Power 1 before Roy leaves can be a helpful investment to keep her damage strong for some extra time. In the midgame, Eirika can be a pretty good option for Lapis, providing either Lunar Brace or Bravery as damage boosting options with great returns. In particular, inheriting Bravery can be a later but more flexible investment compared to Sword Power, as Lapis typically favors classes with multiple weapon types, and would thus prefer more universal damage increases.

Endings

Mighty Flower Lapis
Lapis traveled to war-torn towns and taught citizens how to repair their homes. At every stop, she left large, delicious potatoes from the farm in her home village.
The popularity of there "taters" brought her village wealth and prosperity, and earned Lapis a new title: "the Potato Goddess."

Divine Dragon Alear & Mighty Flower Lapis
Alear became the new Divine Dragon Monarch. His/Her bonds with the rulers of each nation resulted in lasting peace.
Lapis applied her craftiness to politics, and she and the new monarch were lauded for relating to common citizens' needs. As a hobby, she grew taters in Lythos.

Lapis: Mighty Flower

Let me introduce you to Lapis! She’s a royal knight of Brodia, a kingdom in Elyos. Don’t let her cute appearance fool you—she’s an incredibly strong Hero! Lapis says her upbringing was totally ordinary. Wherever she grew up, though, she certainly learned a lot. She can tell you if any plant is edible at a glance, and she can build almost anything! Apparently she came to join the royal knights after entering a tournament held by the royal family. She only signed up to earn some money, but she ended up winning the whole thing! Now she serves as a retainer to Alcryst. I’ve heard her strong and down-to-earth personality make her a great source of strength for Brodia’s more pensive prince!
