Plot

Main article: It's a Trap!/Script

Orson continues to lead Eirika and Seth into Renvall to find Ephraim. Just before they reach the cell Orson claims Ephraim is being held in, Seth asks Orson about the nature of his captivity. Orson informs Seth that they have been in captivity for two weeks and have heard nothing of how the war fares. Seth and Eirika inform Orson of King Fado's death as well as the reason why the imperial army of Grado pursues them: Eirika's bracelet. Orson abruptly suggests that Eirika entrust the bracelet to him or Seth for her own safety and the safety of the sacred stone. Seth immediately responds to Orson's suggestion by demanding him to turn over his weapons. Orson attempts to deny he has any weapons, though Seth is not fooled. Seth noticed that no reinforcements came from the castle when they assaulted it. Orson escaping without Ephraim is also suspect, but Orson's knowledge of the relation between the sacred stone and the twins' bracelets clearly revealed to Seth that Orson is working for Grado. When Seth presses Orson as to why he betrayed Renais, he admits that the empire promised to fulfill his fondest wish: to be with his wife again.

Tirado then approaches the group and sends Orson away. Eirika demands to know where her brother is and Tirado tells her the truth. Ephraim and his two knights managed to escape Valter and fled to an unknown location; the narrative that Ephraim was in Renvall's dungeons was purely a rumor started by Tirado and his men. Despite his and Valter's failure to capture Ephraim and seize his bracelet, they still have the chance to take Eirika's and intend to do so by any means. Tirado's men destroy the bridge, forcing Eirika and her allies into a battle with no hope of retreat.

After Eirika's allies begin to engage the enemy, Ephraim suddenly arrives at the site of the battle, Forde and Kyle in tow. He quickly establishes their goals of rescuing Eirika and vanquishing the enemy and immediately joins the fight. When Ephraim and Eirika finally reunite, Ephraim admits that his original plan was to attack the Emperor of Grado but he abandoned this plan when he heard that Eirika was in trouble and came to assist her. Eirika apologizes for being a burden, however, Ephraim claims there is no need for her to apologize as her efforts are enough to inspire him. Having successfully reunited, the twins resume fighting Tirado's forces.

Once Eirika has seized the throne, Seth asked if Ephraim knew Orson was a traitor. The prince admits he learned of Orson's treachery before this battle, during his assault own on Renvall after he has was surrounded by Valter's forces. As Ephraim laments over his inability to prevent this outcome, Myrrh walks up to him and warns him that something dark and big is coming and that they should leave before it arrives. Eirika notices the girl's hair is indigo and asks Ephraim who she is. He declines to give a full answer, merely stating that Emperor Vigarde has been enlisting otherworldly powers.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.

This chapter holds some very useful items, along with conversations between characters. If the player wishes to rush the chapter, it is more difficult to obtain these items and conversations.

To counter the units at the front, use Franz and Gilliam to kill the knights and mercenaries. Use Ross, Lute, and Artur to take out the soldiers and shamans (through the wall). Have Eirika gradually move to the left side of Renvall (if you want to unlock her conversation with Ephraim—if not, have Franz or Gilliam continue to the left). From there, Ephraim, Forde, and Kyle will appear. Have them move north, with the two parties converging at the treasure room (use Seth, Gilliam, Artur, Ross, and Lute to take out the armored knights and any other enemies along the way). Use Colm to get two useful items: a Silver Sword and an Elysian Whip (used to promote Vanessa or Tana later in the game—Cormag comes with his own).

The boss has mediocre stats, and Ephraim can ORKO (or OHKO with a critical hit) him. Alternatively, you can use a combination of units (The Sacred Stones does not penalize for EXP distribution).
