Ishtar (Japanese: イシュタル Ishtar) was a scion of House Friege of Grannvale, daughter of its Duke Bloom, a full-blooded descendant of the Crusader Thrud and the inheritor of the Mjölnir. Widely renowned as a thunder mage of immense power and dubbed the "goddess of lightning" (Japanese: 雷神 thunder god), she was betrothed to Grannvale's crown prince Julius and served as a warrior in his service, aiding her family in their occupation of the Munster District and later fighting to defend the capital Belhalla from Seliph's impending army.

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War

Role

Ishtar is a prominent antagonist appearing in Genealogy of the Holy War. She is fought as a boss three times: first in Chapter 8, then in Chapter 10 alongside Julius, and finally in the Endgame. In Chapter 8, after she is defeated, Julius will appear and warp her to safety. In Chapter 10, if either she or Julius is defeated, either of them kill a unit of any affiliation, or Seliph moves past them and seizes Miletos Castle, both she and Julius will leave.

She is also responsible for saving many children from the child hunts, according to Felipe.

If Tine fights Ishtar in the Endgame, she attempts to convince her to stop fighting; however, Ishtar remains an enemy, asking Tine to forgive her.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Role

While Leif is escaping the Munster prison, Ishtar, Julius, Manfroy, and Veld have a meeting nearby about child hunts in North Thracia. Eventually, she is questioned as to why her family does not wish to storm Tarrah and immediately begin child hunts there. She explains that they have moral reservations about such a move. Seeing her unease, Julius excuses himself from the meeting and takes her to the prison's yard to admire the flowers.

As Leif's army advances on Leonster, Ishtar shows up in the middle of the battle to petition Saias, the commander of the Imperial forces, for assistance. Prince Julius has a fever and requires immediate medical attention. Saias suggests asking the Loptian Bishops, but Ishtar refuses and eventually convinces Saias to leave the battlefield to help Julius.

After Leif frees prisoners from Fort Danzig, Julius and Ishtar arrive there to survey the area. As a proxy for her family, Ishtar apologizes to Julius for the failure of Friege's forces. After that, the prince takes Ishtar to meet Hilda in Miletos. He does not permit Ishtar to assist her father at Connacht and forbids her from meeting Reinhardt, threatening that he will have Reinhardt killed if she does not obey him.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Role

Ishtar is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the "Others" character set. She is present as an enemy unit in Rogues & Redeemers 1 and 3 of Awakening's DLC.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Role

There are three different variations of Ishtar available to Heroes. The normal variation of Ishtar, based on her Genealogy of the Holy War incarnation, is one of the characters added to the game in the Hellfire update, and became available for summoning by players on May 10, 2018. A performance-themed variation of Ishtar, credited to Thracia 776 despite her status as a minor NPC in that game, was made available between the period of September 6, 2019 through October 7, 2019 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the A Splendid Soiree update. An ascended variation of Ishtar, also based on her Genealogy of the Holy War incarnation, is one of the characters added to the game in the Revealing Lies update and became available for summoning by players on April 18, 2022.

Ishtar: Thunder Goddess
Ishtar is a Hero who serves the Grannvale Empire, and she's also a descendant of Thrud, one of the crusaders who saved Jugdral long ago. Like her ancestor, she's a talented mage who has the lightning magic tome Mjölnir at her command!	Some call her the Thunder Goddess because of her incredible power, and while that might sound intimidating, she's actually a very kind and caring woman in person. Her subordinates respect her for her talents rather than out of fear!	She also truly loves Julius, the prince of Grannvale. Even when he completely changed overnight, her feelings didn't.	And so, Ishtar does everything in her power to make the wishes of her beloved a reality. Nothing will stand in the way of the Thunder Goddess, even if it costs her her life!

Ishtar, inheritor of the tome Mjölnir, is called the Thunder Goddess by some. Now she's making a grand appearance as an Ascended Hero! Clad in special attire and wielding more power, she's ready to take part in the battle between the liberation army and the Grannvale Empire!	Ishtar's lover, Julius, had embarked on a campaign of sacrificing children to his dark god. Unable to bear the sorrow, she worked against him to help the children to escape.	In fact, the stuffed toys she's carrying and the flowers in her hair are actually gifts from the children she helped. These heartfelt gifts are more precious to her than any treasure.	Ishtar was torn between her love for Julius and her sense of justice. However, they say that when the Thunder Goddess appeared on her final battlefield, she wore a gentle smile on her face…

That regal purple color scheme really makes a statement too… There's no argument about who the queen of this dance is!	Her dancing is both powerful and passionate. It's like she's able to show off exactly what's in her heart with every step!	Ishtar normally wields a magic tome in battle. For her party look, however, her weapons are a goblet and a lethal smile!
