Hunters (Japanese: ハンター Hunter) are a bow-wielding infantry class. They appeared first in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, and since then have been included as a playable class in all games set in Archanea. Hunters also appear in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, but only as enemy units.

As they wield bows, hunters can only attack from distance; they can attack most physical units without fear of retaliation, but cannot act when attacked by adjacent units. In comparison to archers, they boast better strength, speed, mobility and the ability to traverse forest terrain at a faster rate, but have lower defense.

In Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, hunters are a basic class that cannot be promoted. Starting with Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, they have the option to become horsemen.
