Appearance(s)

The troops we face are not the half-breeds we fought yesterday. It is the army that bested General Bertram. They are not what one would call an easy opponent.
— Hafedd

Hafedd (Japanese: ハフェド Hahuxedo) is a commander in the Daein army who fought in the Mad King's War. He fought in the battles at Castle Nados in Crimea, late in the war, and was entrusted with leading the defense of the castle by the Black Knight when Ike and the Crimean army attacked, while the Black Knight dealt with Ena.

Personality and character

Hafedd is passionate about testing himself as a warrior, and takes great pleasure and joy in fighting worthy adversaries among both the beorc and the laguz. He is loyal to his king and country, but understands why some, such as Tauroneo, would choose to defect from Daein, while still being willing to punish them on his king's behalf. While he seems to share the usual Daein racism toward laguz, calling the Phoenicis forces he fought the day before the battle with Ike "half-breeds", he respects them as worthy warriors against whom he is eager to test himself. He also has an apprecation for the songs of herons.

Quotes

Battle quotes

If not for a whim of His Majesty, I would not be facing you here. For a warrior, meeting a powerful foe is a joy above all others... And for this I give thanks to the king! Now, let us enjoy the gift we have been given.
— Hafedd, as the boss of Chapter 27 (pt. 1) in Path of Radiance.
Leaving Daein and siding with Crimea is not unheard of. Soldiers are human, after all. However, the penalty for treason is steep. And now you must pay!
— Hafedd, when fighting Tauroneo in Chapter 27 (pt. 1) in Path of Radiance.
Aha, you are one of the Serenes nobles I've heard whispers of... If only this were not war, I would request a song of you... What a shame.
— Hafedd, when fighting Reyson in Chapter 27 (pt. 1) in Path of Radiance.
It's one of the beast tribe... Quite a formidable foe, indeed! Yet, you will find that I, too, am a robust opponent. Begin!
— Hafedd, when fighting any beast tribe laguz in Chapter 27 (pt. 1) in Path of Radiance.
A hawk! Which means you hail from Phoenicis. Yesterday, we lost a virtual mountain of men to your king! Now then, if I may be so bold, I would be grateful for the chance to test the power of his subjects.
— Hafedd, when fighting Janaff or Ulki in Chapter 27 (pt. 1) in Path of Radiance.

Against Ike in Chapter 27

Ike: Is the Black Knight in there?
Hafedd: Yes.
Ike: Step aside. I have business with him.
Hafedd: Aha... It would seem you and Sir Knight have some connection! My curiosity knows no bounds, but... Before you reach Sir Knight, you must first vanquish me!

Death quotes

It appears...this is the end... Gwaaa... Hurrrkkk... Aaahhhh...
— Hafedd, as the boss of Chapter 27 (pt. 1) in Path of Radiance.
