Personality and character

Garcia is a cheerful, caring soldier with great skill. He takes his job very seriously, but still manages to be polite. His most important task in life is to protect his son, Ross. He is willing to try new things, as shown with his conversations with Dozla, in which he tries out bows and magic. However, he ends up almost shooting himself, and Dozla burns off Garcia's beard with magic, although he does get it to grow back. He thinks of things optimistically and is very dedicated to both fighting and caring for Ross.

Garcia was previously a brave troop commander of Renais of famous skill. However, he did not have any time for family, for his wife Risa and son Ross. When he learned that his wife died, he realized his mistake. Garcia then retired and became devoted to taking care of his son in his hometown of Ide. He continued to stay as solely a father until Eirika came to the village. Although he at first declined their request for him to join their army, Ross convinced him to keep on fighting.

Garcia admits that he does not really regret his time with Renais's army, and that he accepts his past, according to his conversation with Seth. He does enjoy having a family. According to him, his wife was much like Princess Eirika, gentle, but strong and empathetic. Ross says to Lute in one of their conversations that his mother was able to use magic. In supports with Neimi, it is revealed that Garcia has met her legendary grandfather, Zethla.

Endings

Garcia, the Warrior Reborn
He returned to Ide to help with its reconstruction after the bandit attack. Afterward, he reenlisted in the army, serving Renais as a troop leader. His strength, valor, and experience inspired many.

Garcia and Ross
Father and son returned to Ide, where they toiled together to rebuild their village. Ross grew to become a greater warrior than even his father. When he himself had a son, that child continued his family's legacy.

Trivia

  • In the prototype of The Sacred Stones, Garcia was known as ボルバ Borba.
  • In Gilliam and Garcia's C Support, Garcia calls Gilliam "Garcia" during the part where Garcia challenges Gilliam to arm-wrestle him. This same typo appeared in the Japanese version, the NTSC localization did not fix this, though the PAL version corrected this.
  • In the Japanese version, the support set for Garcia and Dozla involved them drinking alcohol and getting drunk. This was changed in the localization where they instead end up trying out many different weapons and end up hurting themselves in amusing ways.[1]
