Freedom (Japanese: 自由を求めて Demanding Freedom) is chapter 14x of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. In order to play this chapter, you must visit at least three houses within the city, excluding the house where you recruit Homer, in the previous chapter.
Plot
- Main article: Freedom/Script
After receiving the reassurance from Arion that Tahra would come under Thracian protection,[1] Leif's liberation army flees the city with Mayor Linoan in tow. As they make their way through a mountain valley Dryas notes that several groups of civilian refugees from Tahra are tailing Leif's group in hopes of escaping the Empire.[2] Linoan tried to convince them to stay in Tahra for their safety but they were unconvinced.
As they continue through the valley, Leif and the refugees end up ambushed by the Loptrian bishop Codda. He sends Misha's Pegasus Knight squadron and several Dark Mages with Rewarp staves to flank from the mountains. Leif's forces protect the civilians and defeat Codda and his underling Eichmann and escape out of the valley.
Shortly before everyone departs, Lewyn appears before August and tells him that the fall of Tahra was expected. He tells August that he is going to Orgahil and will then be returning to Isaach, presumably to begin assisting Seliph into raising his liberation army. He then tells August that they will meet again in one year.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Be careful when deploying Dalsin to this chapter. It is possible that Dalsin cannot reach the escape point on this map, as armored units cannot cross over the mountain tiles on their own. It is possible to get him past the mountains by having another unit rescue him. This only works if he has under 19 constitution, so if he has gained several points of constitution since joining he will either need to be left behind or left undeployed. Using the Warp staff is also an option, though the Warp staff has much better applications than this.
One may consider skipping this chapter altogether, as Linoan will join the party in the next chapter regardless, there are no new recruitable characters, and ranked runs do not benefit from taking extra turns.
Trivia
- During the events of the chapter Dryas says that 600 civilians are following Leif's forces in groups.[3] The maximum number of civilian units appearing on the map is 6, which may imply that each civilian unit on the map represents 100 fleeing civilians.

Linoan: What will happen to Lord Leaf and the other knights?
Arion: They'll have to escape. The Empire is after the prince, and my father fears him as well.
Linoan: ...Very well. I will entrust the matter to you.
Arion: Thank you.
Linoan: However, I will go with Lord Leif. I will regret leaving my people behind, but this is the best way now. Once we defeat the Empire, I will return to Tahra... Will you promise to return Tahra to me once I come back?
Arion: Defeat the Empire... Very well, I promise. ...But is this Prince Leif really that trustworthy? Will he be an enemy to Thracia, or a friend...? Either way, I would like to meet him...with Altena..." — Linoan to Arion, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
