Fleet

The Fleet (Japanese: 船団 Fleet) is a rare enemy-only class which is exclusive to Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. This class consists of battleships equipped with long-range ballistae, and are unique in that, as an obvious result of being sailing ships, the only terrain they can cross and be on is water terrain. Fleets only appear in one chapter in the entire game, Chapter 10B, with only two Fleets being present in that chapter.
Despite their limited numbers, Fleets are extremely dangerous, as not only can they pick away at the player's units from a safe distance, but unlike most other users of ballistae, their position at sea makes them extremely difficult to approach and defeat owing to the small number of classes available to the player which can cross seas themselves; adding to the difficulty, the best options to attack Fleets at that point—Pegasus Knights—are very vulnerable to the ballistae they use. If one of the player's units makes it close enough to attack a Fleet, the class's high defense makes it harder to quickly destroy them. On the other hand, both Fleets encountered in the game are equipped with only one ballista each, which will run out of ammunition relatively quickly and render the Fleets useless.

- The Fleet's map sprite is reused on the world map as the ships used by Eirika and Ephraim when following paths across the ocean.

Fleet |
A collective noun referring to a group of vehicles, most commonly used to refer to groups of sea-faring boats. Oddly the name is plural, even though each member of the class is obviously a single ship. |
