Fire Emblem Wiki:Coverage policy

From Fire Emblem Wiki, your source on Fire Emblem information. By fans, for fans.

This is an enforced policy on Fire Emblem Wiki. This means that this page details the standard that all editors are expected to follow. To suggest any changes to this policy, please refer to the talk page or Discord.

This article sets out the coverage policy of Fire Emblem Wiki; that is, what topics are considered relevant enough to the Fire Emblem series to merit coverage in some form on the wiki, and the detail in which those topics should be covered.

In general, the subject matter of an article should have some notable, direct connection to the Fire Emblem series in order to be considered eligible for coverage on Fire Emblem Wiki. This naturally includes all information contained in the official Fire Emblem series titles developed by Intelligent Systems and published on Nintendo game consoles, which should be covered in full depth. Spin-offs and crossovers, such as the Super Smash Bros. titles, may be considered eligible for more limited coverage. The extent to which these games should be covered is discussed below. Whether or not an eligible subject is deserving of its own article, or should be merged with other, related subjects into a single article, is generally intended to be left to editors' discretion.

Please note that this article is not necessarily exhaustive, and it may be regularly updated or otherwise altered. To discuss changes to this policy, such as proposed additions and removals, please visit the talk page. The staff encourages you to check this page, and its talk page, regularly, to stay informed of such changes and discussions. If you are uncertain whether or not a subject is eligible for coverage, please contact an administrator, either on their talk page, or via social media such as Discord or Skype.

Main Fire Emblem series

As the primary focus of the wiki, naturally all information pertaining to the main Fire Emblem series should be covered here. This includes, but is not limited to, the games' characters, items, chapters, gameplay mechanics, major story events, and so on. Canceled titles such as Fire Emblem 64, pre-release builds such as that of The Sacred Stones, and content removed from games' final releases, are also eligible for coverage; all known information should be covered on the wiki.

Related series, spin-offs and crossovers

Fire Emblem series manga, anime, trading card games

All officially-licensed manga and anime series, and trading card games, based on the Fire Emblem series, are eligible for full coverage on Fire Emblem Wiki. This coverage may include individual issues/episodes of these publications, as well as characters, items, and so on, exclusive to these publications.

However, unless otherwise stated by reputable sources such as Intelligent Systems themselves, these publications do not qualify as canon with regard to the games of the Fire Emblem series, and details concerning the events occurring within should not be included as part of characters' biographies or personality descriptions. Such information may, however, be included in separate sub-sections, and should be noted as referring to characters' manga/anime personae.

Super Smash Bros.

As a number of Fire Emblem series characters have featured in the Super Smash Bros. series, Fire Emblem Wiki will cover the relevant games in limited detail; for more extensive coverage, please visit SmashWiki.

Currently, the relevant games are Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. These games should receive an article, which should be limited to details relevant to the Fire Emblem series such as characters, stages, Assist Trophies, and collectibles such as trophies and items.

For the Fire Emblem series characters featuring in the Smash series, a section on those characters' articles for each game they feature in is sufficient. This section may discuss their appearances in limited detail, such as brief details on their moveset, and information on their trophies and other collectibles. Artwork of the characters from the Smash series may be included in their "Gallery" section.

Information pertaining to competitive play, non-Fire Emblem series characters, stages, and other references, and in-depth information on characters' movesets, falls outside the scope of Fire Emblem Wiki. Please visit SmashWiki for such information.

As it does not feature any Fire Emblem series characters or other references, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 is not eligible for coverage on Fire Emblem Wiki.

TearRing Saga and Vestaria Saga

The TearRing Saga series and Vestaria Saga series will be covered in full, albeit at a lower priority than Fire Emblem series content. TearRing Saga and Vestaria Saga content will be contained in its own namespace (Saga:), as they are not part of the official Fire Emblem series canon.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, Fire Emblem Heroes, Fire Emblem Warriors

The spin-off titles Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Fire Emblem Warriors, are eligible for coverage to the same standards as a main Fire Emblem series title. This includes characters, story elements, gameplay mechanics, items, and so on, exclusive to these titles.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., Project X Zone 2, Dragalia Lost

Information on the Fire Emblem series characters starring in Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. - Marth, Ike, Lucina, and Robin - and Project X Zone 2 - Chrom, Lucina, and Tiki - should be included on those characters' articles. The article on the games themselves should discuss the game's plot, gameplay, Fire Emblem series characters, development, and so on in limited detail. Characters from outside the Fire Emblem series are not eligible for coverage. This also applies to Dragalia Lost. More general information should be taken elsewhere, such as NintendoWiki, Dragalia Lost Wiki, or Wikipedia.

Consoles

All Nintendo consoles on which at least one Fire Emblem title has been officially published are eligible for limited coverage. This includes systems such as the Nintendo GameCube, but does not include the Nintendo 64, for which a Fire Emblem title was in development, but was later canceled. More detailed coverage can be found on NintendoWiki.

Android and iOS, the mobile platforms on which Fire Emblem Heroes is available, are not eligible for coverage. Information on these platforms is available on Wikipedia.

Companies and people

All companies and people involved in the development and/or publication of the main Fire Emblem series, as well as other titles listed above as receiving full coverage, are eligible for articles. This includes Nintendo and Intelligent Systems, as well as individuals such as Shouzou Kaga. Whether or not individual members of a game's development team are deserving of individual articles, or should be grouped into collective articles, is left to the discretion of editors. These articles should primarily focus on the person/company's involvement with the Fire Emblem series, with brief sections discussing notable other endeavours, biographical events, and so on. Other information should be taken to external sources, such as Wikipedia or NintendoWiki.
