Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was revealed in a Nintendo Direct on February 9, 2022. It was revealed with a world-wide release date scheduled for June 24, 2022. On April 12, a second trailer was released, revealing additional story details and characters.

Pre-release history

Initial reveal (February 9, 2022)

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes was revealed in the Nintendo Direct on February 9, 2022 with a trailer. The trailer showed clips of story cutscenes interspersed with gameplay demonstrations; additionally, it showed a number of then-unnamed original characters as well as new designs for Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, and Hubert. The trailer also revealed that Three Hopes was scheduled to be released on June 24, 2022.

Additionally, on the same day as the initial reveal, a limited edition for Three Hopes was announced on the European and UK Twitter accounts[1][2] and the Japanese official website.[3] Along with a physical copy of the game, the limited edition (called the "Treasure Box" in Japan) would include an artbook, a map of Fódlan, a set of five figurines, and a postcard set.

Amazon Japan images (April 8, 2022)

On April 8, 2022, it was reported that the Amazon Japan listing for the digital version of Three Hopes contained two game screenshots revealing several new information unseen in the initial reveal trailer; the first image revealed the existence of a recreational dining activity and a new design for Mercedes, while the second image revealed a unit commanding feature akin to the original Fire Emblem Warriors.[4] These screenshots were taken down from the listing some time later, and the second trailer released several days later features footage of these images; the images were presumably intended to be posted after the release of the trailer but were unintentionally revealed several days earlier.[5]

Second trailer (April 12, 2022)

A second trailer for Three Hopes was released on April 12, 2022. Like the first trailer, it showed a mix of gameplay and story clips. The name of the new main character—Shez—was revealed, as was the presence of three diverging paths. More characters from Three Houses were confirmed to return—including Dedue and Flayn—and a number of new characters were briefly shown. Along with traditional Warriors-style combat, it was revealed that Three Hopes would feature home base and class change systems similar to Three Houses, and a new "war map" from which battles are selected.

Along with the new trailer, the Japanese website for the game was updated. Shez's backstory as a mercenary nearly killed by Byleth and seeking revenge was added in the update, along with name and role of a new character named Arval, a being present in Shez's mind who saved them from Byleth. Additionally, the website expanded on many of the gameplay elements shown in the trailer.
