Near the eastern end of the village, he sees a group of villagers gathering near [[Luka]], a [[soldier]], who says that a General [[Dozer]] has captured [[Sofia]]'s castle and killed the king. Luka is part of a liberation force, and has come to ask General Mycen to help them.

Along the way, he faces bandits at Ram Woods, Thief Woods, and Ram Valley. Next to Thief Woods is Thief Shrine, in which he meets [[Silk]], a priestess of Mila.
When Alm asks Mycen, Mycen angrily denies. Still, Alm tells Luka that he will join in place of Mycen. With Luka and the villagers [[Cliff]], [[Robin]], and [[Gray]], he decides to travel to Sofia to help the liberation force, with several small skirmishes occurring throughout the chapter. In Thief Shrine, [[Silk]], a priestess of Mila, is rescued and joins them.


Alm's party begins to fight soldiers employed by General Dozer to stop the liberation force. At the Southern Fort, he defeats several such soldiers and meets <!--Clea?-->[[Claire]], a [[Pegasus Knight|pegasus knight]] of Sofia. She says her older brother <!--Clerbe?-->[[Cleive]] is the leader of the liberation force. In two battles at South Sofia, nearing the castle, he fights more soldiers.

Cleive asks Alm to take the leader position for the liberation force; he had asked Mycen, who had refused, so he asks Alm, who accepts.

Mycen tells Alm to save Barensia, and mentions a red-haired girl...

The chapter begins with [[Cellica]], the red-haired Sofian heiress, talking to bishop [[Noma]] about leaving the abbey. Noma warns her of the dangers of traveling, but Cellica insists on investigating the fate of the goddess Mila. Noma consents and lets her leave. The [[mage]]s [[May]] and [[Boey]] and the [[sister]] [[Jenny]] join Cellica as she departs.
 
Cellica reaches Nova Port, recruiting the mercenary [[Sevr]] and talking to several villagers.

Fire Emblem Gaiden (ファイアーエムブレム外伝, Faiā Emuburemu Gaiden, literally "Fire Emblem Side-Story") is the second installment of the Fire Emblem series. It takes place on the continent of Valencia, where two heroes, Alm and Celica from the Kingdom of Sofia build an army to oppose the Dark God Doma of the Kingdom of Rigel.
