“ | I have been taught in the ways of war, but never in my many years of knowing naught but peace, did I ever conceive that I would raise my steel to fight a soldier of Grado. | ” | — The protagonist |

The Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Comic is a short five-page comic depicting events before The Sacred Stones's prologue and provides some background information for the game. The comic was promotional advertising material for the English release of The Sacred Stones and was only made in English. The comic was a joint effort of Nintendo, Udon, and Gamepro.[1]
The comic stars an unnamed Renais general and what happens to him shortly before the events of the game. This character appears to have been created solely for the comic and does not appear in the game.
Summary
The comic opens with the protagonist's thoughts while fighting a Grado soldier, he has been a member of Renais's army and served under king Fado for as long as he has been able to wield a sword. He expresses his disbelief that Grado would betray them; Grado has been an ally and friend of Renais for a long time.
Our protagonist asks why Grado attacked, and the Grado soldier does not know; he even admits many of his friends are from Renais. Regardless, the soldier continues his attack, saying he is loyal to his homeland. The protagonist disarms the Grado soldier, knocking his sword away from him.
The protagonist then turns to his men and tells them to prepare their fastest horses and best riders to deliver news to the capital of Grado's attack. However, upon arrival a massive Grado force, with Glen and Valter within it, have already arrived. The comic ends as this point, shortly before the fall of the castle.
Trivia
- Valter and Glen are depicted riding horses in the comic, despite using wyvern mounts in the game itself.
- Sachiko Wada owns a physical print of the comic gifted to her by a colleague. It is apparently from E3 materials relating to The Sacred Stones. [2]
