Fanaticism/Script
Six months have passed since the battle at Arianrhod. The war has petered into a stalemate, but Adrestia has changed drastically for the worse; chaos and bloodshed run rampant under Duke Aegir's regency, and Edelgard's most ardent supporters Hubert and Ferdinand have vanished without a trace. Rhea corroborates Edelgard's accusations against Thales and reveals that shortly before Edelgard departed Garreg Mach two and a half years prior, she explained that Lord Arundel underwent a drastic shift in personality and began collaborating with Tomas' impersonator and his ilk; Dimitri shares his own story about Cornelia, and the two realize that there is another player in the war with their own separate objectives. Claude arrives and offers to forge a military alliance between Faerghus, Leicester, and the Church of Seiros, an offer Dimitri and Rhea accept. The three plan to lure Adrestia's military out to the eastern and western fronts, then swoop in through Ailell and recapture Garreg Mach Monastery to boost their morale and clear a path to Enbarr. As they prepare to march, Dimitri worries about the three factions' separate agendas and the stability of their alliance.
As the Kingdom moves southward, they are attacked by the Western Church, who has been infiltrated by Thales' faction. The Kingdom kills the enemy general, the bloodthirsty bandit Metodey, and drives off Thales' subordinate Myson. Shez pursues and confronts Myson, who demands to know why they wield the power of Epimenides before escaping. Shez wonders if this "Epimenides" is connected to Arval somehow, but Arval remains focused on defeating Byleth. Claude, aware of Dimitri's progress, elects to harass the Empire along the eastern front in order to pull its forces away from Garreg Mach.
