The Druid (Japanese:
Druids are characterised primarily by being bulkier and slower than their promoted magic counterparts, the Sage and Bishop. Their speed and skill are lower, and in exchange they possess marginally better HP and defense, though not to as great an extent as their counterpart Sorcerer of later games; their resistance is superior to that of Sages, though still inferior to that of Bishops. Their magic is high, and their primary advantage is their access to the myriad special effects almost entirely unique to dark magic, inaccessible to other classes.
In their appearance in the Game Boy Advance trilogy of games, the Druid is the promoted form of the Shaman; in The Sacred Stones it is one of two class change options for the Shaman, alongside the Summoner, having access to anima magic to compensate for the Summoner's Summon skill. In Radiant Dawn, Druids are an enemy-only class with only a total of six appearing in the course of the entire game, and as such the class has no defined class change options. From Shadow Dragon onward, the Druid has been replaced by the Sorcerer, which performs the same function as an advanced dark-wielding class and, in Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem, has a similar appearance.
