- For the base class also referred to as "Dracoknight", see Wyvern Rider.
It has been proposed that this page be merged into Wyvern Rider. Please discuss this change on the talk page. Reason: Same Japanese name, and same English name between FE10 and FE11 |

The Dracoknight (Japanese: ドラゴンナイト Dragon Knight) is an advanced flying class mounted on wyverns, which was introduced in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. It is exclusive to the Archanea Fire Emblem titles, where it originated as the the promoted form of the Pegasus Knight in these games. They originally wielded lances and swords, being able to use swords only when dismounted into a Knight in Mystery of the Emblem. The Nintendo DS remakes changed this to have them wield Axes and Lance, in order to differentiate the class from the Falcoknight, the new alternative Pegasus Knight promotion option. This change was also reflected in how the only recruitable Dracoknight, Minerva, was made to specialize in axes and came with the strongest axe, Hauteclere.
Dracoknights break from the Pegasus Knight's nimble frailty in favor of being bulky and powerful. They have high strength and defense, while still keeping decent skill and speed and the traditional high mobility of a flying class. In comparison, Dracoknights suffer from particularly low resistance, to the point that promoting from Pegasus Knight to Dracoknight even specifically lowers a unit's once-formidable resistance. They share the traditional flier's weakness to bows and wind-based tomes such as Shaver, with these tomes being particularly lethal against Dracoknights due to their terrible resistance.
The Dracoknight returns as an advanced-class in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, with its name localized as "Wyvern Rider".
From Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War onward (aside from Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, and Three Houses), the Dracoknight was split from the Pegasus Knight class and turned into its own class family, with the introduction of the Wyvern Rider and Wyvern Lord. The Wyvern Knight of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and the ability of Pegasus Knights to promote to it, may have been a nod to the Dracoknight's status as a former pegasus knight promotion.
