Dodge
- For evasion of attacks, see Avoid.
Dodge (Japanese: 必殺回避 critical avoidance), abbreviated Ddg, known as critical avoidance in Three Houses, abbreviated Crit Avo, is a calculation determining a unit's ability to protect themself from enemy critical hits. It is directly based on a unit's luck stat and serves as the primary use for luck, so the higher a unit's luck, the less likely they are to be struck by a critical hit; dodge is subtracted from the opponent's critical rate to produce their chance of scoring a critical hit in that battle. Dodge was first implemented in Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and the earlier Nintendo Entertainment System-era games had no way of reducing or avoiding critical hit risk; dodge is also absent in Genealogy of the Holy War, as very few units can inflict critical hits in the first place.
Unlike most other calculations, dodge is very rarely shown directly to the player, likely because its status in most games as being entirely based on the luck stat means that showing the calculation could be seen as redundant. Only Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn show a unit's dodge on their profile.
