Defiant Def (Japanese: 守備の覚醒 Awakening defense) is a three-tiered passive type A skill which debuted in Fire Emblem Heroes; the individual tiers of the skill are known as Defiant Def 1, Defiant Def 2, and Defiant Def 3 in order from lowest to highest. Units with a Defiant Def skill gain a boost to their Defense stat at the start of the player's turn should the player's HP be less than half of their total; the size of the Defense boost increases with the skill's tier.

The skill was later introduced to the main series in Three Houses, where it is an ability obtained by mastering the Great Knight class. It retains a similar effect and use to what it had in Heroes.
