“ | There's no turning back for me. Not now! P-P-Please! One more... Give me one more chance. I assure you, I will not disappoint Lord Nergal! | ” | — Darin |

Darin (Japanese: ダーレン Darin) is a boss appearing in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He is the marquess of Laus during the first major arc of Eliwood's and Hector's tales and the first major antagonist in their tales. He has thrown his lot in with Nergal and the Black Fang on promises for world domination.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
Darin serves as the boss of chapter 19 (20 Hector), where he makes his last stand, but is ultimately defeated in the process. Darin is one of the bosses remanifested as morphs by Nergal in the final chapter; his morph is paired with a generic General morph in the eastern room, the fourth one opened; the player's army eventually defeat Darin's morph as well as all of the other remanifested morphs in their quest to defeat Nergal.
Darin's ambition is to take charge of the entirety of the Lycian League, and to that end, is interested in instigating a rebellion against Ostia, the march currently serving as the league's central power. He becomes involved with the Bern mercenary guild known as the Black Fang to help him, becoming the man the morph Ephidel reports to in the process, and also attempts to convince the leaders of other marches--reportedly Helman of Santaruz and Elbert of Pherae--to join his plans of rebellion; Elbert's apparent refusal to join the rebellion eventually resulted in his disappearance.
Along the way, he abandons Laus when Eliwood, Hector, and their army approach, leaving his son Erik to potentially die in the process. His first act afterward is seizing Castle Caelin. At Caelin Ephidel mortally injures Hausen when he tries to talk Darin out of his failing plans; Darin, upset that the blame for the deaths of Helman and Hausen will go to him, ends up convinced that he has gone too far to turn back on his plans now. Lyn, Hausen's granddaughter, escapes his clutches and seeks the aid of the nearby Eliwood and Hector.
Before he can be captured by Lyn's returning forces, Darin retreats with Ephidel to the Dread Isle, where he attempts to defend the Dragon's Gate while the Black Fang's leader, Nergal, attempts to perform a ceremony to bring a dragon through the gate. Darin dies in the ensuing battle and his quintessence ends up being used to create a morph in his likeness during the final chapter, where he is finally put to rest for once and all.

Personality and character
Darin appears to be somewhat cowardly and gullible. One of his prominent acts was abandoning his son Erik to the mercy of Eliwood's and Hector's forces. He is easily swayed by Ephidel's suggestions; it was Ephidel that suggested he abandon his son to escape to Nergal on the Dread Isle.
The thought of Ephidel and Nergal betraying him, as they likely would have if he were successful in killing Eliwood's group, appears to never crossed his mind; he was confident that Nergal would make him the ruler of the world.
