The Dancer (Japanese: 踊り子/おどりこ or ダンサー Dancer) is an all-female class present in Fire Emblem. Their first appearance was in Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and since then they have been in almost every game in the series, except for games set in Tellius, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, as well as Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia as dancers were not present in the original games, and Fire Emblem Fates. In Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, the pacificstic herons Laguz have similar abilities, whereas the Songstress takes on a similar role in Fates.
The primary function of a dancer is to refresh an ally, so that unit can perform another action in the same turn. Dancers can wield swords in the Jugdral and Archanea titles; in the other games where they are present, they cannot fight and should never be in the front lines. Dancers possess little strength, but good speed.
The refreshing abilities of the dancer class varies somewhat from title to title. In Genealogy of the Holy War dancers refresh all surrounding units, however in the rest of the games where they appears, they can only refresh a single adjacent unit.
Usually, this is a basic class and cannot be promoted. However, the thief Lara from Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 can become one through a special conversation.
