— Daisy

Daisy (Japanese: デイジー Daisy) is the substitute character for Patty and a playable character in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. If Brigid died or was not married during the first generation, she takes Patty's place in Seliph's liberation army.

Biography

Daisy traveled to the Aed Shrine alone, infiltrated the shrine's treasury, and stole Balmung and other treasures. As she fled the next morning, she was stopped by Shannan himself, who wanted Balmung. She refused, thinking he was just trying to freeload off her hard work, but the two were interrupted by the approach of Loptrians who had noticed their presence. Once Shannan revealed his true identity and that of the sword she carried, she gladly handed Balmung over to him.

When Seliph and his army arrived at the Aed Shrine, both Shannan and Daisy joined his forces. When introducing herself to him, Seliph was initially displeased with the idea of resorting to theft, but was convinced when Daisy taught him how the Empire's soldiers were often thieves themselves in the first place, and as thanks for allowing her to join, she gave Seliph a Brave Sword she had stolen. Later, back in the Munster District, she found Asaello among the ranks of the Friege occupation army, after he had reluctantly consented to serve Bloom. She was extremely displeased to learn of his mission, and convinced him to join Seliph's liberation army alongside her.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Daisy's usefulness entirely depends on the type of run the player is going for. If the player mostly has regular units and Daisy is one of the only substitutes, then her contributions are limited. With regular units, the second generation has much less demand for a Thief, because most units can inherit every resource they need, or inherit the means to buy the resources they need (such as expensive items meant to be sold). However, certain units will not be able to inherit items they want, and there are also times when an item (usually the Paragon Ring) needs to be traded but the unit who wants it cannot afford it. Generally, thief utility is not as useful as it was in the first generation.

However, if the player has many substitutes, then Daisy is more important unit. Money is a constant issue for substitutes, because substitute units cannot inherit anything, and they typically join without good items or high amounts of money. Daisy can steal gold from enemies by dealing damage to them and give her gold to any unit, which can entirely solve the money issues of several substitutes. However, the majority of the best units in a substitutes run will be holy blood characters like Seliph and Ares, who do not have as much issues with money.

Daisy's combat is terrible, because all her base stats except for speed are very low, and she lacks the Follow-Up skill to capitalize on her speed. Her growth rates are also mostly terrible, so she will not improve much as she levels up, at least on average. Her C rank in swords exacerbates her issues, as it locks her out of the best swords, such as the Brave Sword and the Silver Sword. Between her lack of access to good weapons and her terrible stats, Daisy is a genuine challenge to train. However, her promotion to Thief Fighter gives her significant stat boosts in all areas, raises her sword rank to A, and gives her the Follow-Up skill, improving her combat significantly. She will still not be an especially great fighter, but she will at least be able to hold her own, and she will have a much easier time clearing the arena without extensive use of her Sleep Sword.
