Daein (Japanese: デイン Dayne) is a country located in northeastern Tellius, the continent that Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn take place on. Its capital city is Nevassa. Daein was ruled by Mad King Ashnard in Path of Radiance until he was killed by the Crimean army, led by Ike. During Radiant Dawn, Daein is controlled by the Begnion Empire, who inhumanely treat the Daein citizens. During the beginning of Radiant Dawn, the player plays as a small group of freedom fighters, led by the silver-haired Micaiah, called the Dawn Brigade as they fight to make Daein an independent country again. The Dawn Brigade eventually remove Begnion's forces from Daein and Pelleas, believed to be Ashnard's orphan son, is crowned king of Daein. Later in the game, Daein is forced to side with Begnion and they clash against the Greil Mercenaries. At the end of Radiant Dawn, Micaiah is crowned the ruler of Daein after Pelleas (if he is alive) abdicates the throne.
