Critical rate (also displayed as "Critical", "Crt", or "Clt") is the chance of a character performing a critical hit during battle. There are various types of critical rates that appear.
Weapon critical rate
Every weapon possesses its own critical rate value. The minimum value is 0, which most weapons have, but it can reach up to 50 depending on the type of weapon. Some weapons in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and Fire Emblem Fates have a special critical rate value that prevents the wielder from performing critical hits at all.
Pre-battle critical rate
This value appears on the character's status screen and displays their default critical rate against enemies. It is the sum of a factor of the character's Skill stat (usually a half) and the weapon's critical rate, as well as any bonus factors such as class Critical bonuses or Support bonuses.
Battle critical rate
The type that matters the most, during battle, a final critical rate value is shown, which is the exact percentage chance of performing a critical hit on the enemy. It is equal to the user's pre-battle critical rate minus the enemy's dodge. The minimum value is 0% and the maximum value is 100%. An Assassin's Silencer or Lethality skill in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is equal to half of the battle critical rate, when they face off against regular enemies. Critical rate can be negated if the enemy is equipped with a critical-negating item such as the Iron Rune or if they are standing adjacent to a specific supporting character in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
