Close Foil Icon of the Close Foil skill in Heroes. If sword, lance, axe, bow, dagger, or beast foe initiates combat, grants Atk/Def+5 to unit during combat and unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range.

Close Foil (Japanese: 金剛の反撃・近距離 Short-Range Diamond Counterattack) is a passive type A skill which debuted in Fire Emblem Heroes; unlike most passive skills in Heroes, Close Foil comes in only one tier. Contrary to what its name implies, Close Foil does not deal specifically with range-1 targets; Close Foil boosts its wielder's Attack and Defense during combat when a target wielding a sword, lance, axe, any color of bow, any color of dagger, or any color of beast skill initiates combat against its wielder, and also allows its wielder to counterattack regardless of its target's range.
