Close Defense is a three-tiered passive type A skill which debuted in Fire Emblem Heroes; the individual tiers of the skill are known as Close Def 1, Close Def 2, and Close Def 3 in order from lowest to highest. Units with a Close Defense skill will, when attacked by an opponent wielding a sword, lance, axe, or breath skill, grant the user defensive boosts during combat; the size of the defensive boosts increase with the skill's tier.
