Class relative power, also called class strength or class power, is a mechanic first appearing in Fire Emblem Gaiden that influences the amount of experience points a unit receives. It is present in various Fire Emblem games.

Overview

This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.

Class relative power is, essentially, a hidden stat for a class that affects the experience a unit gains. Its purpose is to increase the experience gains of lower-level classes in comparison to higher-level ones.

In Gaiden and Shadows of Valentia, stronger classes have lower relative power and weaker classes higher relative power, ranging from 1 to 10; as relative power is multiplied into experience gain, this serves to boost the experience gain of lower-tier classes in comparison to higher-tier promoted ones. The enemy's class relative power is not a factor in experience, but the base experience from the enemy's class is.

In Thracia 776, the GBA games, and Path of Radiance, stronger classes have higher relative powers. There is a smaller range of relative power, only from 1 to 5. In the GBA games, class relative power is less distributed, with the vast majority of classes featuring 3 relative power and all classes with 5 relative power being late-game boss-exclusive. The range of class relative power is more limited compared to Gaiden, but enemy class relative power is a factor in experience gain in these games, and the GBA games feature many direct class-based bonuses, such as a bonus for defeating Thieves.

In the GBA games, class relative power is used to determine experience from battle thus:

style="Template:Roundtl; border: 1px solid #b0b0b0" | Action Formula style="Template:Roundtr; border: 1px solid #b0b0b0" | Notes
Doing damage [31 + (Enemy's Level + Enemy's Promotion Bonus) - (Player unit's Level + Player unit's Promotion Bonus)] / Player unit's Class Relative Power Minimum of 1.
Promotion Bonus is 20 if the unit is promoted; 0 if not.
style="Template:Roundbl; border: 1px solid #b0b0b0" | Killing the enemy EXP for doing damage + Silencer Mod × [(Enemy's Level × Enemy's Class Relative Power + Enemy's Promotion Bonus) - (Player unit's Level × Player unit's Class Relative Power + Player unit's Promotion Bonus) + 20 + Boss Bonus + Thief Bonus + Entombed Bonus] style="Template:Roundbr; border: 1px solid #b0b0b0" | Maximum of 100; minimum equal to experience from doing damage.
Silencer Mod is 2 if the kill was due to an Assassin's Silencer; 1 if not
Promotion Bonus is 40 for Valkyries, Bishops (only female Bishops in The Blazing Blade), Rogues, and Assassins; 60 for all other promoted classes. Boss Bonus is 40 if the enemy is a Boss. Thief Bonus is 20 if the enemy is a Thief, Rogue, or Assassin. Entombed Bonus is 40 if the enemy is an Entombed. Each bonus is 0 otherwise.
