This sub-page covers the class change stats for the two Nintendo DS games: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

As an enhanced remake of Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and Mystery of the Emblem Book 1, the class change structure of Shadow Dragon is an expanded version of the of the original two games. The two primary differences are the use of the Master Seal as the near-exclusive class change item for all classes, and the implementation of several classes introduced in later games to give class change options to classes still lacking them in Mystery of the Emblem; however, the Lord, Thief, Freelancer, Manakete, and Ballistician still cannot promote and are in compensation treated as special classes with a maximum level of 30.

In addition to promoting to Dracoknight through use of a Master Seal, the Pegasus Knight also has the option of promoting to Falcoknight through use of an Elysian Whip; however, this is limited in that Elysian whips can only be purchased through the Online Shop and are not obtainable otherwise. Owing to the discontinuation of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (and the Online Shop as a result), the Elysian Whip is no longer available through normal means in the Nintendo DS version of the game; the Wii U Virtual Console version restores access to the shop. The promotion stat bonuses are all derived from the difference between the class base stats for both the basic and advanced class.

Weapon level changes are described in terms of weapon experience.

Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem

The class change system, array of classes and promotion games are almost entirely identical to those of Shadow Dragon, differing only in a few variations class base stats and therefore a few variations in promotion gains. Unlike in Shadow Dragon, the Elysian Whip can be found during the normal course of the main game, removing the restriction on Falcoknight availability.

Weapon level changes are described in terms of weapon experience.

1 There are no playable Barbarians, but the class's ability to promote is programmed into the game and left unused. Their promotion gains are identical to those of the playable Pirate class.[1]
