Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Clanne is one of the four units with the privilege of starting at level one, and therefore being able to benefit from fully optimized development if the player so decides. Since with his atrocious Mag growth of 10% he has no business leveling in his starting class, and he of course joins before Tiki, this would require that he be benched until a class-change seal and said emblem are available. Fortunately, this is painless in Clanne's case, as unlike Framme he brings nothing unique to the early chapters.

Regardless of how much the player wishes to optimize, Clanne should switch to a martial class to further boost his respectable physical stat growths. Sword Fighter, with fantastic growths for a base class, is a good choice. For promotion, Wyvern Knight, Warrior and Berserker are all safe options, offering excellent overall growths with some bias towards Def, Spd and Str+Bld respectively. The latter two are slow-moving and therefore best used just as a mid-game leveling class. All three will leave Clanne's defenses lopsided towards Def, which is much better than the other way around and can optionally be fixed with Talismans; three of these are obtained early on and few characters are hungry for them.

For the mandatory second reclass at level 30, Wyvern Knight is a safe choice, but by then Clanne's Str will already be high enough that Griffin Knight also becomes tempting, offering staff utility and some additional Spd while fixing Clanne's Res shortage without using Talismans. The main argument in favor of the Wyvern Knight is that it can use both lances and axes (swords making little sense on Clanne with their lack of a ranged physical option), making it less susceptible to being broken on the enemy phase. If the player's army is too flier-heavy, Royal or Great Knight can also be considered. In any case, a well-optimized Clanne will enter the late game as a formidable physical bruiser more than capable of tackling the by then very tough enemies.

Personality and character

Clanne is calm, and is a fan of Alear.[1]
