“ | Assigning someone a task they do not excel at is a waste of ability. You must never think that everyone works in the same way. | ” | — Cecilia, to Lilina about Roy's ill suit for magic |
---|
Cecilia (Japanese: セシリア Cecilia) is the Mage General of Etruria in the era of the Disturbance of Bern, succeeding the title from Lord Pent of Reglay following his retirement. A teacher and mentor to Roy and Lilina during their studies in Ostia, she alone of the three Etrurian generals escaped from the coup d'état of the Revolutionaries and led a resistance against the traitors Roartz and Arcardo, later allying with Roy to liberate Etruria and beyond.
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Role
Cecilia is the host of the Tutorial, which depicts one of her classes in Ostia teaching Roy, Lilina and Wolt the basics of Fire Emblem series combat gameplay through a mock battle.
Following Roy's recapture of Ostia from Legance, Cecilia and Perceval arrived there in response to an earlier request by Roy for Etrurian assistance and protection in Ostia;[3] there, they confronted Narcian and his forces, who were attempting to threaten Roy into surrendering Ostia, and drove them away. Afterward, Cecilia and her army took over the defense of Ostia from future Bern aggression, and Roy left Guinivere with Cecilia while he was deployed to the Western Isles.
When Roartz and Arcardo initiated their coup d'état, Cecilia was the only Etrurian general to escape their grasp and avoid being cowed into their service, taking Guinivere with her. She founded the Loyalists, a resistance faction, and successfully led them in fighting the Revolutionaries across Etruria, until the combined efforts of the Etrurian generals serving the Revolutionaries and their Bernese allies drove Cecilia out of Etruria and cornered her in a castle in Missur.[4] She and the surviving Loyalists successfully defended against a joint Bern/Revolutionaries siege for a time, until King Zephiel himself arrived and effortlessly defeated her, seizing the castle and leaving it in Narcian's care.
Following her defeat, Cecilia was imprisoned within the castle on Narcian's orders, his intent being to avenge his "humiliation" in Ostia at her hands. In the prison, her wounds were healed by fellow captive Sophia, who told her of Arcadia and that she knew Roy would be coming to help them. When Roy recaptured the castle from Bern, Cecilia introduced him to Sophia and the two joined his army, travelling first to Nabata to defeat the Bern forces hunting for Arcadia.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.
Cecilia joins in a desert which reduces her excellent movement of 8 to 2, but the horse is useful in all of the remaining chapters. While it's true her stats are bad, she has excellent weapon ranks A rank in anima and C rank in staves. Because she uses the accurate anima magic she should hit most of the time with fire tome also she can deal heavy damage to wvyerns through Aircalibur with no prior investment which Clarine can only dream of. Since magic always has 1-2 range she can face most enemies in player phase without taking a hit.
Her C rank in staves lets her use most staves besides Physic, Warp, Rescue and status staves like Berserk, Silence or Sleep at base.
The player can choose either to S rank anima or get a better staff rank to use physic or warp.
Her mount gives her access to canto and a high aud which allows her to rescue most units.
Conclusion: Cecilia is a versatile unit that can do chip damage, use staves and rescue with no investment required on the player side.

Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are two variations of Cecilia available to Heroes, all of which are tied to her storyline appearance in The Binding Blade. The normal variation of Cecilia was one of the characters available to be summoned by players from the game's initial launch, and is also the eighth of twelve characters that are part of the game's Hero Battle rotation. She was first made available via Hero Battle at 7:00 AM UTC on February 9, 2017 through 6:59 AM UTC on Feburary 10, 2017, and her Hero Battle has been available during the same time period every twelve days thereafter. A winter variation of Cecilia was added to the game alongside the Gifts of Winter update and made available to players in the twenty-first edition of the Tempest Trials, "Life is But Fleeting", which initially ran from December 18, 2018 through December 28, 2018.
The normal variation of Cecilia is one of a select few characters to have been inherently available at all five rarities, although inherent availability at five-star rarity has been limited to summoning focuses.

Personality and character
As a teacher, Cecilia is a believer in the importance of talent in learning magic, and so refrained from teaching Roy magic on the grounds that his lack of talent for it compared to Lilina would cause him distress when his efforts to keep up yielded no results.[5] She is persistent and stubborn, particularly when someone is attempting to deceive her, as with her attempts to convince Elphin to stop lying about his true identity;[6] her insistence on explanations from him was observed by Elphin as being "intimidating".[7] She tends to put too much focus on the individual battles and sometimes fails to see the broader picture, such as forgetting that keeping a slower pace on the battlefield is to the detriment of helping those in need further down the line.[8]
Cecilia was specifically nominated by Pent for the Mage General post following his retirement, but when she first took over the role she had to contend with sexism in the army, as many of her competitors and subordinates doubted her aptitude for the role solely based on her gender. In response to this mistreatment, she spent all of her spare time studying in a bid to prove her worth to those who doubted her, and eventually won everyone's trust and support.[9]

- ↑ "I am Perceval, Knight General of Etruria. Yesterday, we were informed by Mage General Cecilia that Ostia had requested Etruria's protection. Therefore, Ostia is to become a protectorate of Etruria, as of now." — Perceval, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
- ↑ "Cecilia escaped from Aquleia with Guinivere. Forming an anti-coup d'etat militia called the Loyalists, she traveled around Etruria, fighting the Revolutionaries. However, the Revolutionaries had Bern on their side. With King Mordred taken hostage, Great General Douglas and Knight General Perceval were also forced to join the Revolutionaries. With these powerful allies, the Revolutionaries slowly began to push the Loyalists out of Etruria. Eventually, the Loyalists were driven into an old castle on the Missur Peninsula." — Opening narration of Chapter 13, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
- ↑ "Cecilia: You see, practice isn't enough to master a school of magic. You need talent, and that can't be obtained through practice. With another person of such talent so close to him, what would he think? He'd work as hard--maybe even harder than her, but he would still lag far behind. What would that do to his confidence?
Lilina: That person of talent... Do you mean me?
Cecilia: Everyone has things they excel at naturally. It was clear that Roy wouldn't excel at magic, so I decided he would be better off learning the sword instead.
Lilina: ......
Cecilia: Lilina, you will lead Ostia someday. You should remember this... Assigning someone a task they do not excel at is a waste of ability. You must never think that everyone works in the same way." — Cecilia and Lilina, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Cecilia: ...... You insist on continuing this farce, don't you? Then I have an idea.
Elphin: ......
Cecilia: Show me your right shoulder that you are conveniently hiding with your hair. If you are but a simple bard as you say, then there won't be a scar from a magic attack. May I have a look...?
Elphin: ...... ...Persistent, aren't you, Cecilia?" — Cecilia and Elphin, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Elphin: Cecilia... How much longer are you going to stay mad?
Cecilia: I understand why you were hiding your identity from me, my prince.
Elphin: Thank you, Cecilia.
Cecilia: But Your Highness, you told General Douglas. Did you lack trust in me?
Elphin: That's not why...
Cecilia: I'll let it go for now, Your Highness. Though I expect an explanation after the war is over.
Elphin: ...As intimidating as always.
Cecilia: In this situation, yes. You have brought grief not just to me, but to your people as well. Please show our people that you live, Your Highness. Please..." — Elphin and Cecilia, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Cecilia: Rushing forward will only lead us to failure.
Roy: I'm not rushing, but we must move as quickly as possible.
Cecilia: Why?
Roy: The quicker we move, the more lives will be saved.
Cecilia: ...Yes, that's true.
Roy: We fight to win this war. But how can we call it a victory with the deaths of so many innocents?
Cecilia: ......
Roy: Oh, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to talk back to you. Are you cross with me?
Cecilia: Not at all. I was too focused on a simple victory. You are already becoming a worthy leader." — Cecilia and Roy, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Douglas: The former Mage General appointed you as his successor... But many were opposed to you taking the position at first.
Cecilia: Yes, that is true. A female officer was enough to incite the rage of some. I spent most of my earlier days fighting against prejudice.
Douglas: To be honest, I doubted your abilities at first, too.
Cecilia: Yes, I know. Every time you told me I was too weak for the job, I would bury myself in spell tomes and work even harder.
Douglas: That's just like you. I expect you must have resented me quite a bit.
Cecilia: Oh? I never resented you, General. Do you know why?
Douglas: No. Please tell me.
Cecilia: The day I enlisted, the other young officers gave me a hard time for being a woman. But you defended me. You said that I was stronger than any of them.
Douglas: ...I'm afraid I don't remember.
Cecilia: That's all right. I remember it perfectly." — Douglas and Cecilia, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ Cherami Leigh | Behind The Voice Actors, www.behindthevoiceactors.com, Retrieved: 7 February 2018
