Calf is a background character in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. He was the king of Leonster prior to his death and its occupation, and was the husband of Alfiona, the father of Quan, and the grandfather of Altena and Leif. Calf is only mentioned in the Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 Illustrated Works.
Biography
Calf, with his wife Alfiona, had a son: Quan; Quan himself married Ethlyn of Chalphy, and with her had two children: a daughter, Altena, and a son, Leif. Calf was king of Leonster in 760 when Sigurd of Chalphy marched against Grannvale, and Quan and the Lanceritter marched through the Aed Desert with Ethlyn and Altena to aid him. During their march, the Lanceritter were ambushed by Travant and the Thracian army in what would be the Aed Massacre, and were all killed but Altena, who was taken and adopted by Travant along with the Gáe Bolg. Taking advantage of the chaos in Leonster and Granvale, Travant invaded Munster; Calf responded to Munster's call for aid, and prepared what remained of Leonster's army to aid Munster.[1] Prior to leaving Leonster, Calf ordered Finn to stay in Leonster with Leif, but to flee with Leif to Ulster if they hear word that Leonster failed to defeat Thracia, and asked Princess Lachesis of Nordion to accompany them.[2]
On the march to Munster, Calf met with King Carl of Conote and his advisor Raydrik, and received the support of the Conote army.[2] After three days of marching, Calf, leading the joint armies of Leonster and Conote, crossed the River Thracia into Munster's territory; however, they were ambushed by the Thracian army from the mountains in Munster, and were forced to retreat to the river, suffering heavy losses.[3] At the river, Calf was met by an army led by Raydrik; when Thracia attacked again, Raydrik turned on Leonster and killed King Calf.[3]
