Brighton (Japanese: ブライトン Brighton) is a member of the Magi, working in rebellion against the Grannvale occupation of Munster, and a participant in Leif's liberation army along with his fellow Magi.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Role

In a Magi raid on Munster Castle's dungeon, Brighton was tasked by Ced with leading Machyua and Lara to clear out the lower levels and free the prisoners therein, while Ced and Asbel looked for child prisoners elsewhere. He assisted in ensuring Leif's escape from imprisonment in the dungeon, and along with the rest of the Magi was entrusted by Ced to join Leif's army.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Brighton is an Axe Knight who joins in Chapter 4 at level 5. However, he cannot use his axes until Chapter 6 and remains swordlocked for most of the Munster arc, where he's dismounted and has penalties to his stats because of this, and it includes the three chapters that compose most of it. In the Munster arc, the most combat heavy part of the game, Brighton is very useful. His stats allow him to deal decent damage to the enemies, he has a useful skill in Wrath that allows him to one-shot most enemies with a critical hit outside of the Sword Armors, and on Chapter 6, he can use his horse to rescue the foot units and escape quicker. He also receives support from Machyua, who is with him during the Munster arc and improves his combat abilities. However, his usefulness quickly falls off from here. With a FCM of 1, he struggles to land crits without Wrath if he's not using a killer weapon. Apart from an average defense growth, Brighton has pretty poor growth rates, even for Thracia 776 standards, with his stats that struggle to increase without some help from the Crusader Scrolls, and another Axe Knight, Hicks, joins the chapter he unlocks his mount. Hicks has similiar starting stats but starts with a useful weapon in the Poleax, which is effective on horse-riding enemies, has better growths rates, more constitution, wielding heavier axes like the afromentioned Poleax better than him, a slightly higher FCM at 2 instead of 1, and receives support by Leif, but unlike Brighton, he has no skills and has a worse sword rank in E instead of D (likely increased for Brighton to be more on par with his axe rank). Lastly, while Wrath remains a solid skill, skills and combat will gradually lose utility in favor of staff usage. In summary, Brighton is good for when he joins, but quickly falls off in usefulness. Hicks is a better option if you want a Great Knight, but he can fit the bill if you need an extra unit.
