Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
Roughly nine years prior to any of the game's events, Brendan founded the Black Fang, at that point in time a more chivalrous organization defending the common man, targeting nobles who abused their positions. Known members of the Black Fang who worked with the organization in this state include Brendan's own sons Linus and Lloyd, as well as Jan, Legault, Uhai, and Pascal, the last of which he personally had imprisoned due to his behavior.
Roughly the same time Lyn's tale of the game was taking place, Brendan met and married his second wife, Sonia, and with it brought Sonia's adopted daughter Nino into the family. Although this event caused Brendan to ultimately lose control of the Black Fang into Nergal's hands, turning it into a far more sinister organization, this event perhaps gave Nino her first positive influences since her birth family were killed by Sonia's hands, as Brendan and his sons were known to treat Nino far better than Sonia ever did.
Brendan is first mentioned in chapter 16 (17 Hector) where some of his backstory is first provided by Leila, an Ostian spy who has infiltrated the Black Fang and reveals Brendan isn't Eliwood's and Hector's primary enemy, a fact that is reaffirmed by Legault three chapters later. The chapter after that has Nergal asking Sonia to make use of Brendan to mobilize the Black Fang into another operation.
Brendan is first physically seen in chapter 21 (22 Hector), where he is seen relucantly agreeing with whatever plans Sonia is giving out to the Four Fangs, which include Brendan's sons. He is later seen in both versions of chapter 25 (27 Hector) disagreeing with Sonia over plans to send Nino onto a Black Fang mission. His final appearance while alive comes in chapter 26x (28x Hector), where he is killed by Sonia, with Limstella harvesting his quintessence.
Brendan is remanifested as a morph by Nergal in the final chapter; his morph is paired with a generic Warrior morph in the western room, the third one opened; the player's army eventually defeat Brendan's morph as well as all of the other remanifested morphs in their quest to defeat Nergal. Brendan is the only recognizable figure remanifested as a morph in this way not to be fought while alive in any of the game's tales.
Despite being fought only as a remanifested morph, Brendan has unused unit data for himself while still living. The constitution stat, and in turn his aid stat as well, for this data notably matches that of his morph, similar to that of all but one of the bosses remanifested as morphs in the final chapter (Uhai is the only one different).
