Not to be confused with dark magic.

Black magic (Japanese: 黒魔法 Black magic) is a weapon type in the Fire Emblem series appearing in Fire Emblem Gaiden, its remake Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses (where it is tied to one's Reason skill level). It is comprised of these games' offensive spells. Spells not exclusive to these games appear as other types of magic in other games in the series. Despite the name, two black magic spells appear in other games of the series as light magic tomes. Along with white magic, black magic makes up the broader magic weapon type in the original NES release, but it is split from it in the remake.

In Three Houses, black magic has a subcategory of dark magic. Additionally, some offensive spells are considered to be white magic instead, such as Nosferatu and Seraphim.
