Skill(s)

The Bishop (Japanese: 司祭 Bishop) is an advanced magical class which debuted in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. Traditionally the promoted class for Priests and Clerics, they are primarily potent healers but also have access to one or more types of offensive magic, depending on the individual game: the broader tome category in the Archanea games, the three types of anima magic in the Jugdral games, and light magic in the Game Boy Advance and Tellius games; in Three Houses, Bishop has access to all magic, but its abilities strongly benefit white magic in particular.

Since The Binding Blade, Bishops are defined primarily by their exceptionally high resistance, the strongest of their stats, while also possessing high magic and good skill and speed. However, their HP and defense are lacking like most magical classes, rendering them frail and vulnerable to physical attacks.

In the majority of its appearances, the Bishop is the promoted form of Priests and Clerics. Originally in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and Mystery of the Emblem, the Bishop is also the promoted form of the Mage, acting as the sole advanced magic class; in most later games, the Sage replaced it as the Mage's promotion. The Blazing Blade and The Sacred Stones have the offensively-oriented Monk also promote to Bishop. In Radiant Dawn, after promoting from Priests, Bishops can in turn class change to become Saints. The class is an enemy-only class with no class change association in Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, where the High Priest instead acts as the promoted form of the Priest. The Bishop class is entirely absent in Gaiden and its remake Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Awakening, and Fates.

Officially romanized as Bishop. This name is used in all appearances except Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776 and Three Houses. In real life, this term is used to refer to Christian priests, and not bishops.
• Bishop; this name is used in Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776 and Three Houses.
• Officially romanized as Bishop. In Radiant Dawn, all Japanese class names are spelled primarily in kanji (i.e. 司祭), with a foreign-language name in katakana applied as furigana (i.e. ビショップ) and used as the basis for the romanized name in the class roll.
