“ | The lords of this land, House Chalphy, have been revered as most magnificent swordsmen for generations. It's no wonder, being that they bear the blood of Baldr, the god of light of old. | ” | — A Chalphy villager |

Baldr (Japanese: バルド Baldo), dubbed the "Holy Knight" (Japanese: 聖騎士 Holy Knight), was a member of the Twelve Crusaders, the original wielder of Tyrfing and the founder of the Chalphy duchy of Grannvale.
Biography
As with the other Crusaders, Baldr was a warrior fighting in a revolution against the tyranny of the Lopt Empire, and was one of the many survivors barricaded in Darna Fortress when the tide turned against their movement. It was at this fortress that the Miracle of Darna occurred, changing the tide of the war: Baldr was chosen by an unidentified member of the twelve dragon gods who descended upon the fortress, and with this dragon underwent a blood-bond, which transformed him into one of the Crusaders. He was then granted the divine blade Tyrfing, sealed to his bloodline, to use in the war.
With the other Crusaders, Baldr fought in the rest of the Holy War and contributed to the downfall of the Lopt Empire. At the war's conclusion, Baldr and five other Crusaders founded the six duchies of Grannvale, the kingdom founded by their leader Saint Heim, with Baldr founding Chalphy.

Trivia
- Baldr's title of "god of light" (Japanese: 光神) is shared with Naga. Fjalar and Salamand similarly share the title of fire god, but Salamand was the dragon who blood bonded with Fjalar, but there is no such relationship between Baldr and Naga.
