Allegiance Battle
Allegiance Battle is a game mode in Fire Emblem Heroes. It is a cooperative game mode where players take on themed sets of enemy units with the potential help of friends.
Overview
In an Allegiance Battle, players take on themed teams using both their own teams as well as units designated by their friends to be able to fight alongside them as paired up units with the unit in the player's fourth slot. Players can designate a unit of their own, a function known as "set sent proxy", for their friends to use alongside their teams.
Each season of Allegiance Battle is themed around a particular central character, initially focusing primarily on characters termed Legendary Heroes, with characters termed Mythic Heroes beginning to focus in season 12. These characters feature prominently on the mode's menu screens, and give the player an idea of what is to come.
Once a player chooses to go into the challenge, they can select one of three difficulty levels, Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Afterward, they can select one of their friends whom they have not already made use of that day (a day being the standard Heroes gameplay day of 7:00 AM UTC through 6:59 AM UTC) and use their set proxy as the player's Pair Up partner for the fourth unit on their team; if a player has no friends or has used up all of their friends' set proxies for the day, they can still go into battle but only with their standard four-unit teams.
Battles themselves involve going up against mostly randomized units drawn from a set theme, usually from the same games as the central character; the randomly-drawn units are typically drawn from the normal summoning pools. For example, season one, with Ike: Vanguard Legend as the central character, drew from characters that appeared in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn; season two, with Ephraim: Legendary Lord as the central character, primarily drew from characters that appeared in The Sacred Stones, but with a much smaller base of characters from that game to draw from, augmented this selection with Heroes originals and some generics. At the start of the map, there are four enemy units and six sigils on the map. As the player defeats enemy units, reinforcements will appear from the sigils at a set pattern, on a 4-2-4 pattern including the initial units; these patterns depend on the map, with the maps themselves rotating with each season. Reinforcements emerge differently based on difficulty; they appear when two or fewer enemies remain on Beginner, three or fewer enemies remain on Intermediate, and four or fewer enemies remain on Advanced (consequently, reinforcements always appear on turn 2 on Advanced). All enemy positions, both initial and those that reinforce from the sigils, are based on their colors which are fixed based on position, with all four colors in a fixed pattern among both initial units and the second sigil wave, and two different colors represented in the first sigil wave. There is one fixed unit on each map, however: one character that appears in the second sigil wave is the season's central character.
If a player defeats all ten enemy units within ten turns, the player wins the battle, earns one point toward their quest bonus for the season, and earns a score based on a formula, known as the Battle Score:
- The base score, based on the difficulty, the players' team's stats and how many of them survive the battle
- +10 point bonuses for enemies beaten using the weapon triangle advantage (i.e. red beating blue, blue beating green, green beating red; colorless beats colorless for purposes of this bonus)
- +5 point bonuses for enemies beaten using paired up units (both the set proxy method and those paired up with Legendary Heroes with the Duel/Pair Up effect)
Additionally, the first time a player wins during a season, their Synergy will increase by one point; players begin with one point of Synergy when they first begin the mode, hence the first time a player gains Synergy, they will then have two points.
The player's highest Battle Score is then used as part of a formula to determine their season score. The season score consists of:
- The player's highest Battle Score
- Synergy bonus
- One-one hundredth of the highest Battle Scores of their three highest-ranking friends rounded down; maximum 8 points per friend
- The player's quest bonus; maximum 25
Reward tables
At the end of a season, the player's season score determines their ranking, and will receieve Dragonflowers and a Blessing based on their ranking and Hero Feathers based on their season score.
