Hey now! I think the, ah... willingness on both sides led to our little surprise, don't you?
— Alec, to Silvia

(Japanese: アレク Alec) was a knight in the service of House Chalphy in Grannvale, and the friend and rival of fellow Chalphy knight Noish. When the Grannvale army went to war with Isaach, Alec was one of its few knights left behind, remaining in Chalphy with Sigurd.

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War

Role

Alec was present in Chalphy when they received word of the Verdane attack on Jungby Castle. When Sigurd tried to instruct his soldiers to remain at Chalphy while he examined the situation, Alec joined Noish on insisted on accompanying Sigurd into battle, and passed on Oifey's advice of village defense and recommended Arden for guard duty at the castle. Alec subsequently accompanied Sigurd's army on the campaigns in Verdane and Agustria, in exile in Silesse, and presumably in being executed by the mages of Velthomer in the Battle of Belhalla.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

As his stats show, Alec is a more speed/skill-focused cavalier compared to Noish. Complimenting his speed, his coveted Follow-Up skill allows him to perform decently in combat, and Canto lets him do hit and run strategies. Due to Genealogy's mechanics, Nihil protects against critical hits and effective weaponry on top of offensive sword skills, but since enemy units with these are rare, this is only a small niche. The most notable use for Nihil is that it allows Alec to reliably bait out Ayra without either unit dying. After the first couple chapters, he will start to lag far behind other units unless given proper investment. As a mounted unit, he is not a bad unit to invest in, though players may prefer to invest in mounted units that offer better prospects as fathers, as Alec isn't an optimal father for any child character. After promotion, if holding a Magic Ring, Alec can fight reliably at range with magic swords. Alternatively, he can make use of the Brave Sword to bolster his offense. If one insists on pairing up Alec for whatever reason, he's best suited for marrying Lachesis or Ferry, but those two have far better options.

Personality and character

In contrast to Noish's steadfast ways, Alec was wilder and more relaxed, but nonetheless a loyal and apt knight. He was a something of a flirt and philanderer, quickly talking to Silvia after she joined their army and being very forthright about his opinion of her.[1] He had a recurring tendency to tease Arden about his different abilities and physical traits.[2]
