“ | We're a peaceful town, sir. We have no weapons, nor any want for them. We survive by barring our gates to those who might bring us harm—friend or foe. Harsh as it may be, I can't have my people dying on account of other folks' problems... | ” | — The village elder, should Chrom visit his village |

A Strangled Peace (Japanese: 閉ざされた平和 Confined Peace) is the third paralogue chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. As a paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. In this chapter, the Shepherds must protect a group of villagers turned away from safe haven from a group of Risen pursuing them.

A Strangled Peace/Script
The Shepherds arrive near a village to see Risen attacking villagers and the village barring them entry. The Shepherds then move to save the villagers. If Chrom visits the village, he confronts the village elder; the elder states that village stays peaceful by barring entry to those who may bring harm to the village.
After the battle, if any of the villagers survived, they will reward the Shepherds for saving them, and Frederick will comment that he would prefer a peace without barricades. If none of the villagers survived, Chrom will lament that he failed to save any of them.

Note: The returning characters list only those recruited by the time this chapter is unlocked. As a paralogue chapter, there is no set timeframe in which the chapter must be taken on; thus, it is possible to have recruited more characters than the above by the point the chapter is started. The returning characters list also does not include any characters recruitable in other paralogues, as the player may not have taken on any other available paralogue chapters yet. The list also does not include any bonus units, as they are recruitable at the player's discretion.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
This paralogue can be rather painful, as the NPC villagers take a pre-set path in order to escape instead of trying to avoid the enemy faction's attack range. Rescue can be helpful for keeping them out of enemy range. On Lunatic difficulty, this is the first chapter in the game to give enemies forged weaponry (tied with The Grimleal, unlocked at the same time).
Deploy Robin, Chrom, Frederick, a stat backpack for Frederick (likely Virion), Sumia, Cordelia, Lissa, and Maribelle. Send Robin and Chrom southwest to kill the Fighter, Archer, and Pegasus Knight on the far side of the river. Have your fliers ferry your healers across the river. They will be responsible for keeping the Villagers alive. Fortunately, the Villagers can survive one attack each. The northmost Villager can be kept alive through healing, but the eastmost one needs to be Rescued away from the encroaching eastern enemies. Finally, Frederick and his backpack will remain behind to delay the northwestern Archer, Mercenary, and Fighter. Have Robin push southwest and clear the path for the Villagers to escape. By the time Frederick starts to falter, you should be able to have him fall back so that Robin can relieve him. Once the Villagers are clear, have Robin wipe out the eastern group. Then send Sumia to nab the village and have everyone else swarm the boss.
