“ | Uh-oh. Oopsies. Sorry 'bout that. But you really shoulda answered back. Looks like you brought friends too. Not very chatty, are ya? And call me crazy, but I'd swear you're all surrounding me. Yeah? No biggie. I've got the bow my dad gave me. Let's call this target practice! | ” | — Kiragi |

A Great Hunt (Japanese: 狩猟に導かれし道 Showing the Way to Hunt) is the eighth paralogue chapter in Fire Emblem Fates. As a paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. The chapter is unlocked after both clearing chapter 10 in either Birthright or Revelation, and have Takumi married.
In this chapter, Takumi's son, Kiragi, gets into trouble with mysterious invaders when returning from a hunting trip in his Deeprealm. It is up to Corrin and his/her army to help bail Kiragi out of this situation.
Plot
- Main article:
A Great Hunt/Script
Takumi asks where his son could be and curses the Deeprealm they're in for being large in size; he then states he can't expect Kiragi to stay in his village nonstop, but he states he at least thought he'd be out hunting or fishing. Sakura calls out to Takumi to come to her quickly, stating that a band of invaders has followed them into the Deeprealm; Takumi asks which invaders followed them in, then deduces that Kiragi might be in the area. Sakura asks Takumi what they should do as the invaders are headed toward them; Takumi states that they go after the invaders head-on.
Meanwhile, in another area of the Deeprealm, Kiragi summarizes the day he had, especially his fish yield and bagging a bear, lamenting he had wished he had done the latter closer to town as it's too big to lug back from his current location or roll back into town; as Kiragi contemplates how to get the bear back to town, he notices one of the invaders and decides to make it his next catch, shooting the invader with his yumi. As Kiragi notices he hit the invader with his shot, he then notices the invader is still alive, and afterward more invaders surrounding him; Kiragi then states that he'll make all of the invaders target practice. Sakura and Takumi arrive on the scene, to which Sakura is the first to notice Takumi taking on the invaders alone; Takumi calls out to Kiragi that he's on his way. Preparations take place at this point; the battle begins once preparations are complete.
Should Takumi and Kiragi speak during the battle, Takumi assumes Kiragi was scared, to which Kiragi denies; the two of them start to talk about the bear Kiragi bagged, to which Takumi states that they should focus on getting out of this situation alive.
Once the battle ends, Kiragi starts to talk about Takumi's battle prowess, after which Takumi starts to talk about his previous battle before changing the topic and states that this battle was quite dangerous; Kiragi attempts to talk Takumi into being allowed to leave the Deeprealm, to which Takumi states the reason Kiragi's in the Deeprealm is to keep him away from the war. After Sakura chimes in on Kiragi's battle prowess, Kiragi finally talks Takumi into joining up with Corrin's army, then brings up the bear again; Takumi then states that the bear would make for an excellent stew back at camp.
Summary
Takumi's son, Kiragi, runs into enemies when returning from a hunting trip in his Deeprealm. Kiragi fights, despite the danger, certain his father will come to help.

As a paralogue chapter, there is no set timeframe in which the chapter must be taken on; thus, it is possible to have recruited more characters than the above by the point the chapter is started.

If it looks like Kiragi wouldn't survive the enemies that are near his starting position, bring a Rescue staff and position your troops to deal with the initial wave of fliers.. Afterwards, most of the enemies will only advance once you move inside their attack radius; but they will become aggressive after a certain amount of time have passed.
