Hidden Truths 1 (Japanese: 見えざる史実 前編 Invisible History: Prelude) is a downloadable content xenologue chapter in Fire Emblem Fates. Hidden Truths 1 is part of the first series of DLC releases in all regions.
This chapter was first made available on August 20, 2015 in Japan; March 24, 2016 in North America; and June 16 in Europe; and June 17 in Australia. This chapter is sold together with Hidden Truths 2 in all regions.
This chapter serves as a postscript chapter to the game's predecessor, Fire Emblem Awakening, and the first part of a two-part saga bridging together the stories of Awakening and Fates. In it, Owain, Inigo, and Severa—characters from Awakening—are tasked by Anankos to fend off invaders following him with the promise of saving their original future, while at the same time being judged by Anankos to be proven worthy of protecting his realm and granting them new power.

Hidden Truths 1/Script
Some time after the defeat of the Fell Dragon Grima, a mysterious being named Anankos summons the Ylissean heroes Owain, Severa, and Inigo to the Mila Tree in Valm to help save his kingdom. Anankos changes their hair colors and disguises Owain's Brand of the Exalt in order to obscure their identities, as he fears the potential consequences should his mission go wrong. However, before he can explain the details of his request, mysterious soldiers from another world attack the four.
After driving off the soldiers and their leader, Anankos explains that if he attempts to answer their questions before they reach his kingdom, he will be killed by a death curse. He offers their reward in advance. The trio's first idea is to bring back their deceased loved ones, but raising the dead is beyond Anankos' power. They then ask Anankos to restore the ruined timeline they hail from to the way it was before Grima destroyed it and to create gravestones for the dead. Anankos complies with their request and hears the voice of a certain tactician thanking him. He also gives the three a crystal that may be used to return them to their original timeline, although it only has enough power for one use. Anankos then begins the process of taking the three to his kingdom.
Meanwhile, a dragon also bearing the name Anankos contemplates the humanoid Anankos' survival and states that it is a piece of him that broke away from him. One of his servants reports that the four are arriving soon, and the dragon gives her permission to expel the intruders.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
This chapter can be fairly straightforward if you know what you're doing due to you controlling the Awakening trio, who are all a fair bit more powerful than the enemies.
Turn 1: Have Inigo talk to Severa to receive an Umbrella (and Owain, if you wish) and pair him up with Severa. Have Severa use her Armorslayer and move two spaces west and two spaces south, in the range of all three Knights and a Fighter. Have Owain move two spaces to the left, pull out his Levin Sword, and use his Spirit Dust. On the enemy phase, every enemy in range except the Oni Chieftain will be killed. At the end of the turn, three Mercenaries show up.
Turn 2: Move Severa down two spaces and have her use the Dracoshield you got. Keep the Armorslayer equipped. Owain moves one space right and finishes the Oni Chieftain. On the enemy phase, the Mercenaries wipe themselves out on Severa's blade. Two Oni Savages to the north will advance.
Turn 3: Move Severa north four spaces and talk to Owain, if you wish. Move Owain south three spaces and have him use the Talisman he got. On the enemy phase, the Oni Savages will get themselves killed. The southeastern Dark Mages and the eastern Ninjas will move out, and enemy Cavaliers and Sky Knights will take the field.
Turn 4: Everyone holds their positions. On the enemy phase, all of the Dark Mages are wounded. The Ninjas continue to advance.
Turn 5: Severa moves one space south and switches to Inigo, who finishes the wounded Sorcerer with his Umbrella. Owain finishes a Dark Mage. On the enemy phase, the other Dark Mage dies, the Cavaliers approach, and the Ninjas start to breath down your neck.
Turn 6: Inigo moves two spaces south and switches to Severa, who equips her Armorslayer and takes and uses Inigo's Energy Drop. Owain moves one space north so that the Ninja can't get your Mercenaries. On the enemy phase, you mow down the Cavaliers and wound the Ninjas. The Sky Knights advance and 5 enemy Wyvern Riders appear.
Turn 7: Owain moves one space south and finishes one Ninja. Severa moves two spaces north and switches to Inigo, who finishes the other Ninja with his Umbrella. On the enemy phase, the Master Ninja and the Kinshi Knight attack Owain, who is seriously wounded. The Wyverns approach.
Turn 8: Owain pulls out his Wyrmslayer, takes Severa's Concoction and Elixir, and uses the Elixir. Inigo switches to Severa, who kills the Master Ninja with her Armorslayer. On the enemy phase, the fliers all attack. Owain should be wounded enough to start using Vantage, so he should be fine.
Turn 9: By this point, there should only be a Kinshi and a Wyvern left. Kill them both. On the enemy phase, the Master of Arms, Swordmaster, Sniper, and Onmyoji advance.
Turn 10: Put Severa in range of the Swordmaster and Master of Arms, equip her Steel Katana, and use the Speedwing. Move Owain out of danger and heal him again. On the enemy phase, the Swordmaster is wounded and the Master of Arms is killed. The boss and the Great Master advance.
Turn 11: Place Inigo just outside the Onmyoji's range and have him kill the Swordmaster with his Umbrella. Move Owain next to Inigo inside the Onmyoji's range and have him use the Seraph Robe. On the enemy phase, the Sniper is wounded and the Onmyoji is killed.
Turn 12: Move Inigo just outside the boss Swordmaster's range, switch to Severa, and equip her with the Silver Sword. Move Owain next to Severa inside the boss's range and have him finish off the Sniper with his Levin Sword. On the enemy phase, the boss Swordmaster and the Great Master attack.
Turn 13: Have Severa kill the Great Master with the Steel Katana, then have Owain heal. Allow the boss to attack again.
Turn 14: If the boss dies on this turn, consider the xenologue a game, set, and match.
Trivia
- This chapter is the only one in all of Fates to make use of the Myrmidon class.
- Inigo and Severa reuse the Awakening help text description for the Mercenary class.
- Because of the three units re-using their Fates sound clips when fighting, Owain can sometimes end up saying "Odin Dark knows no fear" when he is paired up with another unit. This happens before Anankos grants him the Odin alias.
