Seth
Seth (Japanese: ゼト Seth) is a character in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. He is under the player's control at the very start of the game, in the Prologue. After the fall of Renais, he takes Eirika to safety and becomes her most trusted knight.

|
“ | I was born into a family of knights, so it was a given that I should be one, too. I trained in spear and sword. I studied chivalry and swore my oaths of fealty. And because of my hard work, the late King Fado treated me like a second son. | ” | — Seth |

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Role
In the beginning of the game, King Fado of Renais is in the throne room with Eirika, Seth, and several guards. A messenger comes stating that the castle is under attack by Grado, and so he commands Seth to take Eirika out of the castle. Although she is safe, the two then encounter some enemies. Seth remains as Eirika's trusted knight for the rest of the story, and plays a role as a kind of tactician, similar to Marcus of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade or Malledus of Shadow Dragon.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Seth has very high base stats; 30 HP, 14 Str, 12 Spd, 11 Def, 8 Res, and A ranks in both lances and swords, allowing him to dominate the early and mid-game. Only around Chapter 15 will his bases start being somewhat lackluster, but by then his great growths, which are among the best in the game, will have kicked in plentifully. The only growth of his that is unimpressive is his luck, but his base of 13 is very good by the standards of The Sacred Stones, and most other units will require more than 15 levels just to match it. While his experience gain is slower than the rest of the army at first, he still receives a decent amount of experience from killing bosses, as bosses give a constant +40 experience, and with his stats and weapon ranks he is the best bosskiller for the early game. This means that he will be able to easily maintain his lead over the rest of the army, and can allow for other units to kill easy enemies for experience while still being available for the hard sections.
Seth also has a mount, allowing him to traverse the battlefield with little issues and rescue units in danger, something that most of the game's other low-investment combat units can not do. As if all this wasn't enough, Seth has effectively perfect availability (only missing out on Chapter 5x, but said Chapter is a unique case, so Seth's availability can be considered perfect). Seth's only weakness is that the terrain-heavy chapters of the late game will hamper his movement compared to fliers, but he will still be one of the best non-flying units for those chapters, provided he keeps up with the rest of the army.
Overall, Seth's reputation as one of the most powerful units in the entire Fire Emblem series is well-deserved. He starts out much better than every other unit who joins early on while staying strong throughout the game, and has very little opportunity cost thanks to starting out promoted and requiring less experience than most other units.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
Seth is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the The Sacred Stones character set. Seth is also present as an enemy in the second and third installments of the Smash Brethren DLC series.

Personality
Seth is a truly loyal knight to the main characters of the story. He serves Eirika and Ephraim willingly and protects them on their journeys. In the beginning of the game, he is ordered by King Fado to take Eirika out of the palace. He acts as something of a guide or mentor for the protagonists throughout the game.
In his C-Support conversation with Eirika, it is revealed that he deliberately ignores pain and injury he suffers during battle to keep her mind at rest.

Trivia
- If Seth falls in battle, he will continue to participate in all of the conversations as if he were uninjured, due to his "death" quote implying that he retreats instead of dying. While his sprite may still appear on the map during cutscenes, he will flee once battle begins and cannot be deployed for the rest of the game.
