Plot

Main articles: Scorched Sand/Script (Eirika) and Scorched Sand/Script (Ephraim)

Eirika withstands attacks from two armies of Grado—lead by Caellach and Valter—as Ephraim rushes to her aid. Seth informs Eirika or Ephraim of the struggles the desert provides them. In Eirika's route, Riev teleports to Valter and speaks to him; Riev encourages Valter's "beastly" nature, and reiterates that he only needs to collect her bracelet. In Ephraim's route, Lyon speaks to Caellach; Lyon informs Caellach that Eirika and Ephraim are old friends of his, and Caellach shares that he has an old friend named Joshua from his time as a mercenary—Caellach states that he prefers his time as a Grado general and assures Lyon that he will win the battle, and Lyon leaves him to it.

During the battle, numerous characters can reconnect from being on opposite fronts of the conflict, including Tana and Innes, Cormag and Duessel, and Eirika and Ephraim.

Once the Grado armies are routed, Eirika and Ephraim reunite; they are both glad to see the other safe, and L'Arachel suggests they each share all the information they've gathered. Ephraim informs Eirika, L'Arachel, and Innes that Vigarde is dead and Grado is defeated; however, he also shares that the Dark Stone, the catalyst for the war, is still at play, controlled by Lyon. Eirika cannot believe Lyon would instigate the war, based on her brief encounter with him in Jehanna; however, Ephraim's encounter with Lyon in Grado made him appear to be the mastermind of the war, and to have been corrupted by the Dark Stone. L'Arachel suggests they counteract the Dark Stone with the two remaining Sacred Stones, and the group decides to return to Renais.

If Saleh is alive, he reunites with Myrrh; Myrrh apologizes for making him worry but Saleh apologizes for failing to protect her, and Saleh assures her that he intends to protect her for the remainder of his mission.

Trivia

  • This chapter contains the only obtainable Sleep staff in Eirika's route of The Sacred Stones, though actually getting it requires that the troubadour breaks her Mend staff, which is quite difficult.
    • This chapter also contains the only obtainable Berserk staff in Ephraim's route of The Sacred Stones, and also requires that the troubadour breaks her Mend staff.
    • The above two issues are only present in the localized version, as in the Japanese version the status-inflicting staves are the only thing present in those unit's inventories.
  • The Hand Axe did not appear in the berserker's inventory in the Japanese version.
