As for the army, that’s not a concern. All they need to know is the king has fallen ill. They’ve no reason to doubt my word. To them, I am still the king’s loyal aide.
— Sandima

(サンディマ Sandima) was a dark priest of the Loptyrian Order, entrusted by Archbishop Manfroy with executing the cult's will in Verdane and with capturing Deirdre.

Biography

Unaware of his true allegience, Verdane's King Bator appointed Sandima as his advisor shortly prior to Grann 757. Sandima quickly gained influence over Bator and his elder two sons, Gandolf and Kinbois, though the youngest son Jamke remained skeptical of him, and easily commanded the and three the army of Verdane into performing his bidding.[1] During this time, Sandima led an effort to find Deirdre, Cigyun's daughter, and capture her for use in Manfroy's schemes to revive Loptyr, though without success.[2]

In Grann 757, Sandima falsely informed Bator that Grannvale intended to launch an invasion of Verdane, prompting Bator to launch his own invasion first to protect Verdane, taking advantage of Grannvale's lack of defense in light of the war with Isaach. This invasion backfired, however, with the intervention of Sigurd and Quan, and even as their forces closed in on the Verdane capital, Sandima defied Jamke's attempts to sway his father and ordered him to fight back. Jamke's words still reached Bator, who for the first time questioned Sandima's honesty, for which Sandima killed him and seized control of the Verdane army. He was unable to defeat Sigurd's army in battle and was slain.

The king, his sons, the army... Save for the youngest son, Jamke, both king and country are at his every whim. Please, I beg you... save our country!
